well honeslty it takes me just about 5min to 10 min total to do a midpipe by jacking up the car removal an put back. i just was smart by getting replacment bolts and what not becuse for some resaon they strip very easy

On a 4-5 year old car that hasn't ever had the pipe off? There is no way you would have gotten mine off in 10 minutes lol.

I had this problem and a friend told me it is called "galling". It even happened to me on 1 week-old bolts/nuts. All you can do is put on antisieze on non-stainless bolts and not use power tools to install. The next time I change mine will be the first time with antisieze - I used the copper stick. We'll see.

mine come off no problem now that the bolts are new and i use antiseize.

PB Blaster is also an awesome product for getting those tough nuts off. Just spray it on and let it sit for 10 minutes or so. All of mine came right off without a hitch.

I'm guessing you didn't look at the midpipe install DIY threads? Those are always a bitch to get off.

Nope I did not good sir, good to know that we weren't losing our minds that moment though.

DstrbdTech 02-10-2011 11:44 AM

And I just threw a code damn the cost of going catless >_>

Just ordered the BHR midpipe w/ cat! Can't wait to get it...any estimate on the current wait?

Gdawg522 02-21-2011 02:31 PM

I just received my midpipe last week from the backorder and had a chance to get it installed this weekend. The pipe appears to be of great quality and finish. The welds were spot on and fitment was great. I ran into an issue with the pipe touching my Autoexe Member brace kit but I resolved that with a few washers to lower the brace about an 1/8 of an inch. The other issue I had was the springs for the rear connection not being long enough to apply enough pressure to seal the midpipe to the backpipe. I resolved that by using my old, longer springs from the RP supercat. Overall the sound is great and more importantly, I have noticed an increase in power. The car appears to pull harder especially in the upper RPMS. I hope to verify this with another dyno day soon. To put things in perspective, I previously had the Rotary Performance Supercat installed on my car paired with the Racing Beat REV8 exhaust system. The sound was wonderful but I realized at Jeff's Dyno day that the cat was holding me back. So i ordered one of these pipes in hopes of picking up some more power and putting me over the 200 HP mark. I also was concerned about the longevity of the supercat. I track the car about 6-8 days out of the year so the heat was a concern for me. Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase. The unit is fit well and came with all necessary hardware.

Does your pipe come with the long studs and springs or do we reuse the stock ones?

Gdawg522 02-22-2011 10:55 AM

Thanks for the input Charles. I realized the there would be no issues with the factory bracing. I resolved the issue and am still reaping the benefits of the AutoEXE brace system. The flange for the RB exhaust was quite thin I noticed. I figured that is why the springs were too short. No worries I got it installed and I'm loving the sound. The RB exhaust matches nicely with this pipe and the sound is amazing.

^^^ you like it? I'm gonna have the same setup as soon as my pipe comes in.

Everyone using a cat-back with OEM-type flanges have realized that using the factory springs will suffice.

Ive been noticing a buzzing noise from this joint would it be down to whats been mention here and resolved by using the original springs.
Oh I run a Borla.

shifty 02-23-2011 06:59 AM

Ok thanks il give it a check over this weekend sounds like it was just poor fitment by me.

dondo 02-23-2011 01:16 PM

i had that with Borla and it's just loose springs (I used shorter than OEM). Tighten it down some more and it'll go away.

9krpmrx8 02-23-2011 01:34 PM

I actually just switched out to a factory exhaust off of a 2010 (had tips adjusted) and found that autozone sells factory style studs with springs but were a bit shorter for $5.00 that worked perfect with the BHR pipe. Mine was leaking using the factory ones.

dezau 02-23-2011 11:37 PM

what's the current wait time on the bhr pipe?

WTBRotary! 02-23-2011 11:46 PM

Ive been waiting for a while but they should be rolling out here soon... :) I cant wait

Gdawg522 02-24-2011 09:21 AM

WTBRotary, Let me know how you like the setup with the RB exhaust. You will notice a difference in power or at least I did. I'm loving this setup right now.
