Charles forgive me if this was asked recently and I failed to see it, but what kind of feedback have you gotten (if any) from Turboxs exhaust owners looking to tone down their exhaust a bit?
I refuse to go back to a sub 3" system but have to admit in my ever lessening youth the straight up turboxs system is a smidge on the loud side.

I seem to recall having the discussion already on the differences between our resonator and all the others....... LOL
If one wishes to be an exhaust-flow purist, CoastFab has/had a great explanation (hat-tip to TeamRX8 for providing a link somewhere around here) about what happens regarding exhaust flow properties when the louvered resonators lose their packing. The louvers cause turbulence which is said to decrease exhaust flow, making an empty louvered resonator flow worse than one which retains it's internal packing. As regards exhaust tone on the Renesis, straight-through resonators don't provide much effective sound damping, even when new.

Saw my first flame from my 8 tonight in my driver side mirror.... I love it, The sound of the bhr pipe on a straight piped 8 sounds evil
Had a guy in a mustang gt give me a thumbs up and ask how many cylinders lmao

edit: the other video was running a map Jeff named "Flamey McFlamerton". The video shot from straight behind was all thanks to Erik and running a regular driving map.

Just checking ot make sure before I order. When I install the midpipe I will get a engine check light? To turn it off I will need a module. Is that correct? Thanks
One last thing is the second o2 bung needed?

Just because J gets annoyed when I get wordy....

You MAY get a CEL with a midpipe. Not every 8 does. Some get it instantly, some never get it, and some get it intermittantly. There has never been a determined cause. Don't be surprised if you land on one of these 3 options. They are all "normal".
If you want to permanently block it, and never have it show up (even if it isn't being triggered anyway), you have to get an AccessPORT from Mazdamaniac.com (he is the only vendor for them now, the only sales outlet for COBB's RX-8 variant of the AP)
The AccessPORT is just a tool, but it is quite a varied and useful tool.
The 2nd O2 bung option is entirely for people that want to run another O2 sensor, typically a wideband O2 sensor. If you are looking to add a 3rd O2 sensor to your 8 (it already has 2, and even swapping the pipe you still have 2), then add that O2 sensor bung. The rear O2 on the stock cat has a bung for it on the pipe by default. That option is just for a 2nd one.

About 4000 miles of highway driving and two autocross events.
09 r3 with 33k miles on it. Only drivetrain mods are the BHR ignition and rb intake, both of which I installed with the midpipe (new plugs as well).
Was merging onto a highway on my way to work and noticed that the power completely died at about 7k. CEL came on shortly after - p0420. Pulled the midpipe off when I got home and the cat was as seen in the picture. Chunks of the cat were pressed up against the O2 sensor.
Seems like it should've lasted a lot longer than that.
