Ya I figured that not being for FI or racing applications meant that it wasnt road race worthy but that it would hold up under the occasional autocross. Obviously I was wrong.

FWIW, my Davesport cat has held up to three seasons of intensive, national-level autocrossing with multiple drivers on an '04 that clocks 210 hp on a Mustang dyno (custom tune). Not trying to pick a fight with Charles over his policies, just pointing out my experiences.
Are the newer cars known to run overly rich with factory tune?

Just dropping an update:
I pulled off the midpipe (as part of a clutch replacement) 23,000 miles, and about 1 year 2 months from installation. This pipe has been from RI to SS13 to OR and back, dealt with a pretty severe new england winter, and daily driving the entire time. My pipe has discolored to a dark gray, but not a single sign of rust. Still sounds and performs perfect.

The stock mid-pipe that comes with the TXS doesn't dampen the sound much (way too loud at cruising speeds). Was thinking about getting the BHR if it's a direct fit.

I do like the tones of the TurboXS with our midpipe as they are much lower more bass like tones with our midpipe.

First let me preface this by saying, Charles clearly stated his policy with regard to the DS cat, and I am quite happy with the quality of the BHR products and customer support. I did read where there hadn't been extensive track testing with a DS cat installed. Being hard headed, living on the bleeding edge, or whatever reason makes it clear that it was my choice, I installed the BHR midpipe with DS cat, then took it to the track.
FWIW I am driving an 09 model, and it seems there was one other 09 with the same type of issues. Perhaps its an overly rich factory tune, but I believe its more likely that the DS cat, while able to handle limited hard use in a rotary, i.e. AutoX, it is probably the sustained track use that killed it on my car.
This is what was left of the cat after roughly 6 30 minute sessions at Roebling last weekend. The cat/midpipe had seen approx 100 miles of street driving prior to this with no issues.
Again, to be clear, it was my choice to attempt this, and I am happy with the quality of the item I purchased from BHR. The only reason I post this is to save someone the trouble of trying this out on their own. DS cat + rotary + track = no good. I will be putting this midpipe back on minus the cat.

That we already knew but I wouldn't want people to shy away from the catted version simply because guys who are on the track are burning them up.
The reality is, most people here will never see the track so I'd say the catted version is still a great choice for the vast majority of owners.

That's because what was left after the rotary assault and battery ended up further down the pipe lodged against the resonator, once I get that cleaned out, we should be good to go.
I'd agree with this for sure, there's a huge difference between running on the street even "spirited driving" vs sustained road course driving. I will just have to learn to live with checking the CEL status with my Ultraguage every startup.
I would disagree with this statement only because I burned through two RP cats with simple street driving and the occasional dyno day where as my DaveSport seems to be holding up just fine against everything I throw at it. (knocks on wood)

I took my ride in for service, and told them i noticed the car stuttering through acceleration. They told me I need to replace the cats, and parts and labor would be $1350. Does anyone have the midpipe hooked up to stock exhaust? If so, how does it sound?

Another member here (azlizard) has the BHR midpipe and stock catback, I've heard it and it sounds good. It's maybe a TAD louder than stock, not much at all. The tone is a little different as well, little deeper and sounds better than with the stock cat on for sure. No drone at all either. I say go for it.

the right packing won't burn up, but a lot of people seem to be happy with the BHR one and that stands for something
don't be so hard on the HJS cat Jedi. Yes, it is expensive but it does flow like a catless midpipe without harmful emissions and smell. Somebody just dropped $3k on a pair of Bride Cuga seats/rails and everybody says "cool", somebody drops $1k on an ultra-high flow cat converter that lives on a rotary application and the same people thinks that's foolish, go figure ...
