Thanks! Now I just need to find someone who will pass inspections for me

If your area only does OBDII testing like Arizona does, you can get your car tuned by MazdaManiac with a Cobb Accessport and it'll mask the check engine light.

They just plug the computer in, make sure it says everything is OK, then check the gas cap and you pass. Some other people I know here with RX8's still pass even though the car smells terrible and has ridiculously loud exhaust haha.

Sounds like a plan. I'll do the pipe first, and the port later. I'll be damned if I'm paying $1400 for OEM cats.

although I am remiss to tell you this since I personally don't believe in running catless of the street, as far as blocking the CEL goes you can do that on your own with a Cobb AP

The sound is not half bad. I'm running with stock exhaust and its got a deeper louder tone to it. If anything you could do what I plan on doing when its time for inspection(sniffers here) I'm going to get a used cat in the fs section. They go for like 3-400 used

The BHR midpipe (with DS cat) and stock exhaust combo sounds great on the S2's. Pretty much as other people have described - it's not much louder than stock unless you're really on the throttle, but it is noticeable deeper. The cat is definitely not as effective as stock - you'll smell gas in the cabin when stopped and it'll backfire noticeably more. No CEL. I did have a slight improvement in fuel economy as well.

I checked for leaks - there seem to be any. I think it just had to do with the car running rich (probably also why the cat melted). Thanks for fixing it for me though.

I took my ride in for service, and told them i noticed the car stuttering through acceleration. They told me I need to replace the cats, and parts and labor would be $1350. Does anyone have the midpipe hooked up to stock exhaust? If so, how does it sound?
pking, Mazda is required by the epa to cover the replacement of your catalytic converter with a warranty of 8 year/ 80,000 miles. If they try to charge you show them this.

Thanks man. Only problem is I have 81k on it lol. I brought it in for servicing around 72k (when they replaced my motor) and they told me nothing.

Its a very annoying rattle when the car vibrates prodominately. Although I cant tell whether any of the other noises I can hear are normal or infact just the rattle sped up so they sound like a cool noise :P

Its sounds like a knocking noise, and changed when I tightened up the rear cup and ball joint.

Extremely hard to pin point where its coming from, front or rear.....

i too am also getting a very annoying rattle when idling or even driving. i did everything as posted in this tread ie: rotate midpipe, check hangars, use oem springs, torqued every nut and bolt but nothing seems to work. here is a sound bite that i recorded for all who can hear and help me out =

midpipe rattle sound .

it sounds like the rattling is comming from the front of the resonator.

Same here. I get a CEL or a pending one every now and then. If so it is easy to clear with a ScanGauge.

Mine rattled on two separate occasions. First time I had to put the rubber hanger back on and it went away. The second time the brace under neath got bent a little and and midpipe would hit it.

ive literally laid down underneath the car for for like 20-30min with a flash light just looking for things that can possibly make that rattling sound. My hangars are good, the brace is way clear of the midpipe, o2 sensor is torqued, every bolt is tighten and gaskets are brand new. i did speak to BHR and charles is willing to look at the midpipe for me once i send it to him but i wont have a car to drive untill he sends it back so this really sucks.

For the people experiencing the rattling. I have a similar rattle but not near as bad as Dolpho69. For the most part mine goes away once she's warmed up. Has anyone else noticed the rattle disappearing after the mid-pipe & resonator have warmed up?

What i experienced was a rattle between idle and 1000 rpm. When shes warmed up and i pull up at a stop light the rattle is not as bad. But man do i love my BHR midpipe and Rev8 combo. I am so thankful that Charles is helping me out. The BHR midpipe is still the best way to go

when i heard the sound, i jacked the car, went under it and tried to locate where it was from with no success, unbolted the front part, rebolted it, still same noise. ive put some gloves and bashed it with my hands and it still did the sound. after a while, it stopped and i dont have it anymore.

x2 on the best way to go

x3 on the best midpipe to go... I wouldnt trade it for anything else...

I wanna give many thanks and praise to Charles, BHR team, and Fabricator, they are simply amazing. i just got back my midpipe from repairs, installed it in 20 min, took it for a test drive and i am pleased to report that the rattling is gone. Excellent work from BHR with excellent communication the whole time. BHR ftw.

What was the cause of the rattle cos both mine and another chap over here in the UK are having the same issue with an annoying rattle and have done since new and it would be nice to get it resolved if its a simple fix.
