Borla catback

Greetings.
I am on the verge of buying a catback system. I like the tone of Borla.

After watching all the videos I could find, the one thing I can't accurately figure out is exactly how much louder than stock it is?

Can anyone guess a percentage of how much louder borla catback exhaust is over the stock system?

It really depends on how you're driving. It's almost as quiet as stock while cruising, but can be really loud (especially at lower rpms) if you accelerate hard. It's very easy to modulate the volume with throttle input. One of the biggest things I like about it!

Percentage? Hmm... 20% maybe? It's not loud enough that you're going to **** everyone off, it's just loud enough to really "fit" the car.

Cool Hard to tell....

Very difficult to calculate as a percentage - the stock is almost silent at low revs, the Borla "burbles" so you hear it.

I found the stock hard to drive with, since I couldn't rev-match properly, the Borla fixed that just great!

The stock exhaust is rather quiet at idle. Even when revving the engine hard it seems like more sound come from the front of the car rather than the exhaust.

I think I got a pretty decent deal I ordered it yesterday (2-19-06) form performancecenter.com for $575 + 10 dollars shipping. I checked back today and the sale is over and its back to $731.89.

I don't think I would have paid that much. I would have bought something else.

got it too. Sounds awesome. It's not annoying or obnoxious. Sounds really cool under overpasses.

Why not the Mazdaspeed unit just released? Good reviews and a better price.

i got the borla for a deal on ebay for $400 shipped but used though. ive had it for about 2 months now and im still loving it. im thinking about gettin a rp supercat put in soon but dont really know how it goes with the borla. i have qa stupid question that i want to ask...which one is louder for the borla: rp supercat or rp midpipe with resonator? i dont want my exhaust to be extremely loud...i would be happy if it geats a little louder. so can anyone that has it give me an idea of how much louder will it make the borla sound?? thanks

a midpipe with resonator would definetly be louder. The resonator is really only a extra chamber and only minimize the noise level by a little bit.

I probably recommend getting the supercat, decent gains and only amplifies the volume by a tad. I'm waiting on mine in the mail, I think its a good compromise considering you also live in the bay/california you definetly don't want to get a midpipe.

How loud is this compared to the new Mazdaspeed dual muffler set up. Anyone have a comparison?

Thumbs up

I got my Borla installed a week or two ago and I love it. Nice throaty rumble but still sounds really tuned. Beautiful note. My butt dyno also tells me that I get a bit more giddyup on the highway. I go for drives just to hear it. How much is the supercat and what are the horsepower gains (as close as anyone can guess).
