Borla help

I got in a wreck a while ago that smashed my back bumper and also bent my right exhaust pipe so that it was about 3 inches further into the car than the left one. So basically if you were looking from the side you couldn't see the tip on the right. I got a borla exhaust to replace everything, because I assumed it was just the muffler that was bent. The shop put on the exhaust and I noticed that the right tip is still jammed in there further than the other one. The did not bend any part of the exhaust and said they saw nothing bent that would affect the exhaust like that. Is the exhaust just supposed to look that way? Or did I get a defective one and it's just coincidence that it looks just like my old exhaust? I can post pics if it'll help.

Well, obviously the exhaust tips should appear symmetrical, so if the new exhaust is known good (presumed from the factory) then the bumper/trim is still out of alignment.

If you only replaced the actual muffler segment, perhaps the mid-pipe between the catalytic converter and the muffler is askew.

I measured the distance from the tips of the exhaust pipes to the edge of the tire. The right pipe was about 2-3 inches closer to the tire than the left. Even if the bumper was misaligned, that measurement should be even on both sides right?

Yup, everything should be symmetrical in all dimensions.

I must say I'm not too impressed with your shop. Even if the Borla tip alignment was off from the factory they could have heated/bent it into proper alignnment for you. This ain't rocket science.

Case in point for us needing more DIY these days!

I should have just put it on myself, and I did ask them about heating and bending it. They said they didn't have the technology to do it... ? So they just refered me to a muffler shop, I guess I'll just go there and get them to bend it. Thanks for your help.

may be the hanger on the car is bent, it only take a 1/8 to move the whole exhaust an inch.
