Catless Midpipe with Stock Cat back - rattles or issues?

Catless Midpipe with Stock Cat back - rattles or issues?
Looking to run a B&B test pipe (catless with resonator) or the Rotary perfomance midpipe. Using an 02 simulator to take care of the CEL oxygen sensor issue.
I want to run the car with the stock muffler as most of the aftermarket catbacks aren't doing much besides generation sound.
I couldn't find any posts on this setup as most people with a new midpipe also have a different cat back. So anyone know if the muffler can handle the increased flow without buzzing/rattiling or generally sounding bad.
Thanks.

BritSti,
I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m interested in the same setup you are talking about. I did pick up an extra stock muffler and cut it open to get a look inside. The 34 pound stock muffler is very solid with a double wrapped stainless shell and fiberglass mat between the layers. I don’t think you could get one to rattle if you wanted to.
I cut out some of the stock muffler baffles in an attempt to make it slightly louder than stock without being too obnoxious. I left the two internal resonators in and I can’t tell a difference in the sound, still a bit too quiet in my opinion. I may go after the cat next.

Thanks for the input on the stock exhaust, I will probably go ahead and give it a shot. I'll let you know how it turns out. I am looking for a louder exhaust note, nothing too loud through.

I ran this exact setup before I added the turbo.
It has a slight buzz that is fairly pronounced at WOT. It is especially noticible in the middle RPMs.
I didn't need an O2 sensor simulator. I just plugged the regular O2 sensor back into the midpipe and I never had a CEL.
Even now with the turbo and no CAT I still don't get a CEL. It is all in the tuning.

The midpipe I had made is really loud with the rx8store cat back installed. It's not really that bad unless you really get on it though. It really easy to control the noise. Works great letting people know you're there too.

Casper.....
There are a few companies that make them, Baker, Perrin, and SLP.
Here's a link to the Casper model that I bought. (Haven't tested it yet, so can't give it a recommendation.)

When I was at Seven Stock I had talked to SR Motorsports rep. there about their hi-flow cat unit (at the time with no resonator) and said it was too loud with an aftermarket exhaust they said they did not know that as they had it on their car with the stock exhaust and it was fine. They now have all three versions available 1) hi-flow cat & resonator 2) hi-flow cat & no resonator 3) pipe with resonator only I have the hi-flow cat with the resonator & RB exhaust and it is still loud. Got some dynamat that I will be lining the trunk with to hopefully cut down on the excessive noise. It hink if you get the straight pipe but keep the stock exhaust you should be OK.

If you're going to get a resonator and a straight pipe why pay for the straight pipe? You could get it machined for like 80 bucks. How much does that borla run? What I want to do is get a massive resonator from random technology and directly swap it with the cat. That way it's a lot of resonator so it's quieter than w/o it. But also it probably wil lcost like 100 bucks plus install. A lot less than what others will charge. Does anyone know how long the cat is? I wanna know that b4 I call random 2marow.

I have the RP midpipe with the stock muffler and it rattles from 2900-3300 rpms. Other than that though I like the sound. Its a little louder than stock. I had the B&B exhaust on and it was too loud but its pretty nice now other than the slight rattle.
