One thing to consider about FI on the RX8. There is NO proven system out there. Nobody has been running with a turbo for more than a couple thousand miles. NOBODY knows what will happen to this engine after running a turbo for 20k miles. Yes right now it might be the best way to make major HP. However, if it ends up destroying your engine in 20k miles, is it worth it? Keep that in mind.
If you don't want to kill your engine, CZ is the best bang for your buck. And yes you can get +20whp from just the CZ depending on your MAF voltage variance. You will need to spend the time to tune it.

Even new, the CZ + CanScan is about $31/HP. New CZ alone gives you 40$/HP - both still lower than the turbo.
High-end HP is certainly more valuable and worth every penny if you want to track the car. I just got back from the track and I never got below 6kRPM anyway.

Hey guys, is there any way to get 50HP for $1...?
lol...just messing with you all, you know we all wish the HP per $$ was a little better with the RX8

Of the numerous CZ dynoes I have seen even with other performance parts they usually settle right aorund 200 whp. If you get a 150 whp car then you will have a lot of room to play with the AFR's & timing. If you have a car that already runs leaner from the factory then you are not going to see nearly those kind've gains. Hell, there was even one guy who was running 225 whp with the CZ unit, but his AFR's & timing advance were not safe. I'm not saying the CZ unit isn't worth it, as I used to have one. And like you said I was addressing the intent of the original poster in that he was looking for low-mid range grunt vs. track peak revving hp. Just making people aware that their are tradeoffs to every system, & while you hear 25 hp, I don't want this guy to get the CZ tune it, think he will get the results he wanted (low end 25 hp + 25 ft.-lbs. of tq), & be disappointed. There is not a lot of tq. to be gained with this product. It is more similar to the driving characteristics of the stock engine (high hp, low tq) then the turbo (which changes the characteristics a bit).
you don't gain hp and not gain torque - I picked up ~20-25 hp from 6000-9000 rpms which if you do the math (hp=torque*rpm/5252) at different rpms thats about 15-20lbft of torque gained.
I really don't care all that much about low end - i have a 6 speed, i can easily stay above 6k rpms

By your equation above does that mean that if I put a SC on my car (238 hp), the approximate gain (since I have about 83%) would be close to what a Nissan 350Z (@287 hp) would gain (or at 83% of that) ? Because it is not even close. According to that equation above (159 ft. lbs. * 9000 rpm/5252) we should have about 272.5 hp at peak.

The equation does hold true. Look at a dyno sheet and you'll see that torque begins to fall off at about 6kRPM. Its about 110 ft-lb at 9kRPM which would indicate 188HP at that RPM. Sound more realistic?
The math is true regardless of mod type. Its just the point on the RPM scale where those particular SC's peak-out. That's what you are missing.

OK, I see what you are saying. So a peak hp gain of say 20 whp can net you only 4 lb.-ft. of tq, but at a different rev range it can give you a higher tq. gain.

Why would someone take the time to make a product that doesn't make more horsepower than the original stock product. Seriously some of the stuff you guys right is just stupid. So they spend all of that time researching and developing a product that sucks more *** than the orignal product. WRONG and if you want to make a comment about something that may be actually true back it up with some facts not just your, "I heard it makes less hp." Show me a horsepower graph that compares both on a dyno that wasn't done by some hill billy with no experience testing products on high tech equiptment.

wth are you talking about? Did you post in the right thread? I see nothing in this one that would spur your rant. And I see nothing in your post that warrants waking this thread from the dead. Use the quote tab, so we can tell what you're ranting about.
