Coil Packs!

Coil Packs!
I bought my 2004 RX8 back in april or may and its still in the garage. Just jave body work left before i can drive it. There was a misfire code and when I bench tested tge coil packs they were done. I ordered the kit drom NP Boosted. They forgot to put the spark plugs in the shipment but they were very easy to contact dor a resalution. The kit came with no instructions and took about 90 mins to install in the car. Obviously the misfire is gone.
After the USD to CAD conversion this was just under $600 and brings my tune to $850. I also changed all 3 oils. The coolant tests fine and it already had new breaks

^^ the CAD to USD exchange rate is garbage right now. 600CAD is 425-ish USD, plus border duty, etc. It stacks up quick :/
Nice work bringing that car back to health, OP. I'd check the cat just to be sure the coil failures haven't harmed it.

np boosted is questionable quality/specification made in china, seems like the price is way high for the source
but noobs gotta noob, just like starting your own coil pack thread despite there being dozens of existing coil pack threads you could have added on to instead. Sorry, neither the subject or the product are special 17 years later on a car that went out of production 8 or 9 years ago.

Nope, I haven't seen that one.
Would you know the USD conversion?
I've had the old style BHR kit, and most recently got several years and about 47k miles out of the SakeBomb kit.
If money isn't an issue, the SB is my favorite.

I have not tried them. But to be honest i only bought 1 of these kits to get the harness adapter and mounting plate. If i need new ones in the future i will most likely just to to raymac and ask for coils for an 2003 Cadillac Escalade. Since thoughts are where the D585 coil comes from.
One of the things I like about SB is the harness and the bracket mounts onto the AC away from the intense heat of the block.
It uses Mercury marine IGN1A coils.

I like an excuse to wrench on my 8, and since I DD my 8, I wanted to be a Guinea pig for the forum.
It's sitting in my LY atm awaiting a new engine.
It's proven to be a good, dependable kit, imo.
My current WB has stock ignition.
I have an old style BHR kit in waiting that I took off my LY when I got the SB.

This is a more detailed discussion thread on the IGN1A Mercury coils SB uses in their kit.

This is the other discussion thread Team linked in case you didn't see it.
We had a lot of discussions about them on multiple threads before I got mine.

Almost 4 years, iIrc it was over 50K miles, no misfires detected with my Torque app.
Apologies to the OP for hijacking his thread.
