Unhappy confused with exhaust...does size matter?

I have had my RX-8 for a while now and have done some small mods to my car but now I am ready to buy an exhaust. I really like the titanium tips with blue rings but the only exhausts I find, they are all 3"...that is good if I were going FI but since I'm in college...I don't have the big bucks laying around to buy something that expensive. I really like the agency power exhaust with the cat delete pipe but its all 3" and I was wondering if I would loose power due to the big piping? should I just keep the stock cat on the car and make it just a cat-back system? Or should I should just stick with exhausts like B&B and the Greddy SP2? Thanks a bunch

Larger pipes->more flow->more "power", although you won't notice much of a power difference with any exhausts you get. Also, if you're going FI, it's best to have larger pipes because the extra flow from the turbo/super needs abit of room to get out. It's not good if you're holding up too much exhaust.

remember if the pipes go down to 2.5" to connect to the b-pipe, it's not really a 3" exhaust

doesn't more flow means more power in a boosted car? don't you need some back pressure in na cars? i just think having a big duel exhaust set up will take a little away? (oh I highly doubt I am going to turbo charge the 8 in the future) I still like the Agency power exhaust. Am I right/wrong in any way? I am new 2 this whole kinda thing...sorry guys

Agency Power owners: I have seen a video on youtube with this full set up and its personally a litttttle bit 2 loud for me...if I just make it a cat back system, will that tone it down a little? does anyone have any videos of that?

yes, it will be much quieter with the cat. No vids tho, since I am catless. One word of caution however, this system has caused the exhaust shrouds to melt because it gets too close. There are techniques supposedly in installing it that should fix this issue. If you contact agency power directly, they can give you some pointers on this. For me, I just modified my shrouds. I am getting a body kit anyways, so it won't matter for me soon regardless since the rear bumper I'm getting has better clearance.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe tubingchamp, who posted a few posts ago, does have the stock cat on with the AP kit
