cooling mod idea
I have a JDM 6mt . These only come with only 1 oil cooler .
Will soon be going FI and after seeing what different people were doing for cooling I had this idea :
I would fit a second radiator where the 2nd oil cooler would normally go.... .
Any thoughts on this ?

I've only heard of 1 person doing a 2nd water radiator.
Oil temperatures are pretty critical in the rotary. Just not sure how many people having over heating issues are paying attention to it.
There are lots of things to do for the water side of things before adding a 2nd radiator.
There are very few things to do for the oil cooling part.
Do you have gauges to monitor your oil and water temps?

MM & OD have both had success with totally different setups .
but they dont seem to be that effective - from what I read . Whereas the 2nd radiator idea was very effective .....
Not yet - although I have monitored water temps with Scanalyser at the track .

I had thought about getting the second oil cooler but wondered if this idea would get a better result . Suppose I need to try it . Was thinking I could actually use the stock oil cooler for this ......
If it worked well It might be a mod the US guys could do as they already have the oil cooler in place .....

i run my gauges at: oil psi 12, oil temp 100-200, and water temp 200-215 all (F). I am thinking of the radiator also and I am going to purchase the cooling fan from mazsport. I also run there stage 3 kit, (put together) little by little. Missing the fan though. I have a friend who does Methanol injection he goes down to 85 F fast!!!!! Any onther Ideas to cool off the motor?

i would go the second oil cooler route. let me know if you need one. i will find it for you and get it shipped out!! which side is the oil cooler not on. the exhaust side, or the other. i think that is consistent on jdm vs us cars!
and then upgrade the radiator.. wow, did not realize you only had one cooler.

So as of now, I have the mazsport fan controller and oversized radiator....what other mod can I do outside of replacing the stock water pump.... or is the aft. pump the only option?

the mazmart h20 pump is very good..
and you are where, and your problems / heating issues are what?

note to all. if you have not changed a radiator in the rx8. well it sucks. i would do it again, but i have learned..

if you fi this engine you will need a second oil cooler. good idea but remember these systems have to be somewhat in balance. FI --no matter what type--will increase the heat a good bit..
2nd radiator mounted away from the other exchangers seems to be working for us. you have to have a better waperpump to do this. proper flow is critical. it also is beneficial to do the 180F thermostat mod. no screens on the exchangers if it is possible to do so in your enviroment
