cost of flywheel install?

hey guys i was just wondering if anyone knew the round about cost of having a flywheel and clutch installed at a shop. Labor rate is 70 an hour. I wish i could do it myself but i don't have all the tools i need, 54mm socket, flywheel puller, a lift would be nice, etc... thanks

Where are you from? I'm sure a bunch of members could recommend a place in your area.

I've been quoted $400 for clutch and flywheel. Wrong coast though.

I was going to make a thread like this, but I'm guessing it's 300$ because it's a bitch to get all the stuff out and remove the flywheel.

Isn't this the dude that did donuts in the school parking lot with the AT then ran from the cops and got tazered (or maced?)

If so, you dont have a "clutch" (you have a lot of clutch plates.)

But for acual MT folks, this is not as difficult to do yourself in your own garage on jackstands. I speak from experience. No other SST are really needed beyond the 54mm socket and it is pretty easy to find (though you will have to sorta guess the torque when you put it back on. I did by pushing on the bar at a known distance down the shaft (like 3') with what I estimated to be about 120# of force.) Jacking it up high enough to work under is an experience, but doable. In all, easily done on a weekend, even if you are deliberate like me. Would save you $300-700.

Agree.
I did it this past weekend in about 6 hours (with a pizza and beer break).
