DIY Request!!!!!
I want to put a ram air hole in my bumper using a carbon fiber piece made for a 350Z, similar to deedubs car. I was wondering if anyone has undertaken this project on their own without going to a bodyshop and if someone could help me out with this project. If it doesnt require all that much, I would like to do this myself. Any helpful links or DIY information would be great, thanks.

I had someone do it to my RMagic front bumper. You can see it here. But basically the hardest part is going to be cutting the bumper and repainting it. I placed it on the passenger side (for you) as its the end of the long runner. I have seen a kit that just replaces both runners with the duct.

i've cut holes in other bumpers, never the 8. just make sure to use painters tape to mock up your cut then measure multiple times and use a tiny drill bit as your guide for you larger cuts.

I did this to my old bumper with a friend. We just took a measurement of the outer flange on the carbon duct piece and then used painters tape to measure it out on the bumper.
We used a high speed air cutting wheel to cut the plastic- it cut it like butter. I recommend going then increasing the size gradually until you have the smallest possible hole for it to fit into. Then simply drill the holes and use some aluminum rivets to secure it.

Im just waiting to find time to get to the post office to pick up the duct lol. Its hard for me to get out of work before 6. Once I get it Ill continue with the project. So far my car is sitting with the bumper off in the garage resting patiently lol. I will make a detailed DIY with pics once my project is complete.

the racing beat duct starts at the top of the bumper inlet, then a 90* turn up, then another 90* turn towards the Air box housing.
so thats two sharp turns to get the air in, this will slow down the velocity significantly, and probably wont build much air pressure once at speed. its still cold air though.
where as this will allow a direct line of sight straight into the K&N typhon, which also happens to be shaped like a funnel. just dont hit any small birds, I SERIOUSLY recommend a screen in there. like such

i know, i gotta paint the screens
Im in the process of making an adapter to surround the filter tightly and feed straight to the hole in my bumper, so once at speed it is a true ram air (they are supposed to pressurize). I figure if a comperable size hole on a gsxr1000 adds 10hp at 100mph, then this should def help.
I wish you the best of luck. the biggest thing I have noticed is how much louder the intake is at full song, under a bridge it sounds like a bike you will like it.
renesis, are you planning on going the same route as I with the direct feed to the inlet? if so any ideas on what material I should use.
