Does anyone know why...
We don't see large hp # for the 8 like we did with the 3rd gen rx7. Even with a turbo kit or supercharger we don't see like 300 whp on stock motors like the 7 could do on stock motor. Is the Renesis more prone to detonation under boost?
My 7 had 300 whp on stock turbos, but that was the most we could get on twins, even after all other mods and carefull tuning was done. But I have seen rx-7's with 400 or more wheel horsepower and still daily driveable. I have yet to see this with the 8. The 8 is a fun car to drive, but I think with a little more power it would be an absolute beast. Great handling and power to back it up with. I think a reliable 300whp would be great, anyone accomplished this yet?

Yes, with Greddy, modified Greddy, and custom setups. Tuning has been the bottleneck, but Scott at Mazsport is breaking down the computer barriers with the Interceptor-X. I bet we'll start seeing 300+ on a regular basis soon.

actually they just made a turbo kit to top it at 390... but the renesis is made for high rpms and top speed.. while the 7's is made more for aggression pretty much.... the most i've seen hp wise on the 8 is 500.. and the most i've seen on the 7 is 1200... the 8 is made to be even better of a control car.... i dunno what else ^o^.
