ECU Upgrades

I have recently read about a couple of the ECU uprgrades available for the 8. I know that Greddy, Canzoomer, and Apexi all have a unit for the 8. Does anyone have personal expeirience with these products?

Are you kidding? There are a million threads on the CanZoomer unit, and several on the Freddy eManage. Take a look in the CanZoomer, Tech, and Mazdaspeed/Aftermarket performance sections.

I'm going to agree with smrx8....I don't know of anyone besides canzommer offering a "already tuned" ecu upgrade....

Access ecu reflash module should be out in about a month.

The CZ unit, if found by the dealer, will certainly void a drivetrain warreanty. The good news is that Maurice made it very easy to remove w/o a trace.

Any info on the RB reflash? It seems that it would kill the warranty unless they are in bed with the warranty peeps as well.

RB is usually tight-lipped until the product is READY. But, I would really like to know about the warranty issue.

AccessECU is released right now for the WRX. But I contacted them and they said mid summer release. This Access ecu is going to kick some major ***, being able to change the map on the fly. Can have a fast map and then change to a fuel economy map.

Yes, it will be nice to have an ECU that detects the throttle voltage and automatically changes to "performance mode" at a preset throttle position. Then, when the ECU detects that the nitrous circuit has been armed, it will also engage the proper maps at that time. Pretty cool!

What I'd really like is a device that plugs onto the ECU or even better, in the OBD plug that would enable me, with the use of a laptop to access (view) and modify any parameter in the calibration (whether it's a scalar, a function or a map) and view any calculated parameter of the strategy. Basically I'd love to get the calibration tool used by Mazda enginners. I would make very good use of it by :
- inspecting and perhaps modifying the calibration table that defines where the engine runs in open or closed loop fuelling.
- modifying the table that defines the target AFR at the different operating points in order to force the system to run slightly lean at part throttle in order to improve FE
- checking if the catalyst temperature protection model is not over sensitive and therefore overfuelling when not needed.

I absolutely HATE running at the performance and economy unefficient lambda=1 !!

Boy, That is EXACTLY what I was thinking!!! Closed loop, lambda, catalyst parameter access calibration. I dream in this stuff!
