Ehaust or CAI First

how about this:
FORGET ABOUT A NEW EXHAUST OR INTAKE!!!!
instead save your pennies and buy a sick *** NAWZ system. if you REALLY save up or if your just loaded, you can even shell out cash for a new ECU system because your stock ECU can only handle about a 50 shot.
personally i would aim for the 150 shot of NAWZ

all in all, HKS is nothing, its just a shitty name brand in my experience, their BOV was good, but now with the synchronic its not best either
HKS sucks, and the price is just freaking rediculous

I'm sorry but you are just getting a rx8 with an exhaust and cruise around town trying to look cool, hence your a poser. We all know that it will do nil to **** for performance. Also to say a Srt-4 is faster than the 8 is a ridiculous statement. I’m getting the impression he is talking about straight line performance which obviously our cars are not designed for in the first place. Save your money and do suspension.

Well from my experience CAI is cheaper and has greater change in engine noise.
But of course, exhaust is more noticeable from the outside. If you are only getting it for the looks, just get new tips. Some exhausts will also change engine noise drastically, it really just depends on which brand. Exhausts are expensive though.
Both will have similar performance gains, which may be nothing or minimal. I would think CAIs would give more change in performance than exhaust though.

I would say the SRT-4 is faster than the 8.
0-60 / 1/4 mile:
2004 Mazda RX-8 5.8 14.49
2004 Dodge SRT-4 5.3 13.9
Seriously, I love the 8 but I don't understand the idea that its god's gift to man. Some cars are 'faster', some handle 'better' some might even look 'better'. Who cares. Changing exhaust just for the sound seems like a valid reason- no more invalid than your LED modifications. You're changing the car to better suit yourself even if there's no practicality in it. The only thing I would really consider 'posing' is lying about mods, or using stickers to lie about mods. Any enthusiast should appreciate what someone else does to their car, even if they don't agree with it.
Calling someone a poser only makes you look like an elitist *******.

Heh...I changed mine to the RB Rev8...it sounds waaaaaay better than stock...much deeper and nice and quiet...even with the midpipe on...
It's dyno proven gains compensate for the added weight...so I'm right back to +0!!
But...its completely worth not sounding like a ricer...I guess that makes me a ricer too...

Maybe you don't browse around enough in this forum. I purchased RotaryRasp’s Led to support him as a forum member, maybe you were too busy in the pointless threads. Changing a exhaust for sound and no power gain is just as ridiculous as those dim-witted ricer drivers. Just some punk asses trying to be somebody.
P.S. RX8 is not designed for drag in case you haven't notioced, you let me know when a srt can keep up with a 8 on the track..

ricer or your word poser, means look over performance. he is getting an exhaust, it looks nicer, sound nicer, and it should give some hp gain. maybe not a lot of power gain, but its lighter than stock, which means there are performance. what is wrong with that?
and why do you say there are no power gain anyway? i believe there are gains to aftermarket exhaust. if it gives better flow and is "lighter" that means there are power.
i don't know much about rx-8's exhaust system yet, but at least for my subaru my TBE gives 30whp. plus the guy said, he is NOT looking for power gain just some sound, he know what the rx-8 is for, so just answer his question exhaust or intake and leave him alone.
IMO neon lights, led lights, all those LOOK stuff that make the car heavier is RICER.
