Ehaust or CAI First

what is wrong buying an exhaust?
ricer or your word poser, means look over performance. he is getting an exhaust, it looks nicer, sound nicer, and it should give some hp gain. maybe not a lot of power gain, but its lighter than stock, which means there are performance. what is wrong with that?
and why do you say there are no power gain anyway? i believe there are gains to aftermarket exhaust. if it gives better flow and is "lighter" that means there are power.
i don't know much about rx-8's exhaust system yet, but at least for my subaru my TBE gives 30whp. plus the guy said, he is NOT looking for power gain just some sound, he know what the rx-8 is for, so just answer his question exhaust or intake and leave him alone.
IMO neon lights, led lights, all those LOOK stuff that make the car heavier is RICER.

The only "dyno proven gains" that *might* be legit...the Racing Beat Rev8...
I haz it...but can't tell if it did anything other than drop the tone down...and making it sound more grown-up...
That's good enough for me...

The RX8 is near maxed with its stock form.. without going to extreme measures... with that being said.
Lets go over everything all at once then. Exhaust on a stock car, you'd get 3-5whp if even.
Weight?!? ??? Reducing mass(weight) anywhere is okay. Reducing rotational mass is better. So your wheel selection is more important that your exhaust. Unless you are lossing over a 100 pounds.. you aren't gaining a fraction of a donkey.
Now say you have future plans.. say you want to FI in the future, then the exhaust is beneficial. True, but 75+% of owners will fail to come to that, then whats the point of wasting a 500+ dollars for a lil nudge when you can save that money and over a period of time you'd reach 3-5000 range and really make things come alive with FI... People have a tendency to waste there money on all the little things.. why save up and actually be something. So you want to look cool while you driving around during the weekends, its easy... get an intercooler.
To WoRm, I did not call anyone a poser.. Re-Read it again.
Say if I said, “Worm, so you’re b!tch?” Does that therefore make you a b!tch?? Maybe or maybe not. That’s up to what everyone else thinks.
So here’s my advice to you, since we are a community and we should help each other out.. You want performance, get rid of your heavy wheels. Axis Hiros in 19s are 27 pounds each.
To everyone else.. sorry for the abrupt posts. Good bye.

my only point is everyone's car is modded however to their liking. If I had wanted a pure performance car, I wouldnt own an 8. end of story.
The hiros are staying for looks- just like the other cosmetic mods. I noticed the car get more sluggish when I swapped rims- it was that big of a change. Eventually I'd like to get some track wheels, but that's down the road.
