Which engine to go with
I was going to go with a rebuild but decided in done with the rx8 engine so in swaping it out. Now Im trying to decide which engine is better the cosmo 13b tt or the one from the fd.

REW is a better engine than the RE( cosmo)
Cons for the RE-
Restrictive exhaust sleeves, FC style non-multi window stat gear bearings, and FC style Crank Angle Sensor. With a rebuild you can easily swap in the FD/T2 exhaust sleeves, and FD stat gears/bearings. Getting around the CAS is a little bit more expensive.
Pros for the RE are price, they are cheap. They also have a little bit better flowing intake manifold( large runners, less sharp bend angle on LIM)
If you are really dead set on this and want to go nuts, we have a rebuilt half bridge FD motor in stock that previously made 550rwhp.

I know Im going to need a engine management system and such, I want to have at least 700hp, I do know some people will put there 2 cents in unless they see a finish product which is fine with me, and far as dropping right In, Of the engine won't go right in the mount are different on the two engines.

700whp?
Highly modded RE and REW engines struggle to see that power in a daily driving configuration and they are pretty expensive. You will also have to change a lot of other things to cope with that power.
Differential, rear axles and whatever else comes to mind.
Good luck with the swap, keep us posted.

lol 700 hp... with a 1.3? I suggest you start off with a 26b rx8. Then it will sound believable....BTW- its already being done by BMI racing and is currently being done by an actually forum member.

Guys come on look at his quote "Get it how u live but dont go broke doing it".......he is rich he doesnt want to go broke making 700 on a cosmo engine so my guess is hes filthy rich if so more power to him lets see your swap........you are in for a serious treat and lots of work hope you know what you are doing.

far from rich just having someone build the engine right, he's from purtio rico and can do **** like this is his friends car the sliver one
here a clip of a street FC RX7 thats acutually driven on the street, but this car has a turboII engine stock rear end and transmission ,no fiber class on the car what so ever http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dkpmet7bG2M
im not looking to drag race just want to be able to blow the doors off a Corvette ZR1 if i need to.

If you want to blow the doors off a ZR-1 you bought the wrong car, you should have bought a GTR. An RX8 with the HP needed to "blow the doors off" a ZR1 would be a nightmare to drive on the track.

Thats not 700hp... thats not even close what 700hp is suppose to look or sounds like.... This is what 700 hp is suppose to sound and look like when its coming from a Rotary...

Not uncommon for 13B's to hit 800whp. There are a few on 13b-rew's on rx7club in the 700 club. 800 is not unusual down in PR either.

I kind of find it funny how people recommend a 20b or 26b or tell me I have the wrong car. I have plenty of clues and I also have the right car. I loved the car ,hated the design of thr greddy turbo kit and couldnt see spending 6grand for a Turbo kit not making for 400hp, so if I have the wrong car then that would me the people who are putting 3rotors and 4 making high horsepower are wrong as well wanting to do the same thing.

Im saying wrogn car for the reason that you will spend alot of blood sweat and tears trying to turn the 8 into a rocket. Engine swaps are a biotch and not accomplished easily or else alot of people would have them done here. Wrong car i mean find another car out the box that is better and go from there just my take on "wrong car" If you want to be that guy who fabs and does all of that work and has a 700hp beast rx8 do it i would love to see that who wouldn't lol. Good luck keep us informed post pics we like to see the adventure unfold.

sauceyI986, ultimately what they are saying, "They will believe when they see it". You have been here long enough to see threads like this started and then the person either quit the build or never started it. Good luck.
