Which exhaust to buy??????

hey guys. i have a stock 04 rx8. i want some more sound out of my 8. i cant decide what to do. anyone with sounds clips of their 8's...please post them or email them to me. i am considering all options as of now. i have seen the mid pipes. hi flow cats. mufflers. but i just dont know which would be better. my local exhaust shop said theyll make me a straight pipe and run it to my muffler...but that will be pretty loud im thinkin. i just want a little more sound. and i dont want to sound like a civic!!! anyway...help me out .... thanks...tk

get a catback, they dont do anything but make the exhaust a little louder. dont matter which one you get, cause they all do the same thing. i have the MS dual canister, so naturally you know its the best one out there

Pick one. Everyone has different ideas about this question. It's all to do with weight and sound.
My fav is the Mazdaspeed twin. Inexpensive, light weight and sounds fantastic.
End of conversation.

not to much to worry with a midpipe, it's pretty much as its name states, its merely an empty straight through steel pipe. But remember that a midpipe that is also paired with an aftermarket exhaust will be very very very very loud. Most midpipe users here just have the midpipe with the stock exhaust.

If you get a midpipe dont put an aftermarket catback , i learned the hard way. For DIY what do you need to know? Dont you just unbolt the cat and remove it , put new one in? Dunno about gaskets...But you probably should replace anything old to prevent leaking or w/e.

Ps. You do know removing the cat gives you a CEL right? If i were you id just buy a catback , like the HKS Hi power exhaust. Or the Turbo XS.

you can get a cheap midpipe from rx7store.net
go to mazdatrix.com and get new gaskets and hardwear.

Whats a CEL? How much louder is a mid pipe with OEM exhaust? How does it sound? Will it pass smog?

catless mid pipe = illegal.
highflow cat = legal.

it depends on what you want.

it also depends from state to state. In crappy states such as new york, I've been shown the actual law by a cop and it says you can't modify the exhaust PERIOD from the catalytic converter back with non OEM equipment. Even just a catback is illegal for street use in this state.

Where i have my car registered...there is no DEQ. so im open to any options. but i live near seattle. so the cops out here will not be happy with me if my exhaust is insanely loud at 8500 rpms.

I just bought an Agency Power full race exhaust w/ the cat delete i should have it by next week so i'll post up a video for you and if I light up a Cell light all I would need to turn it off is a spark plug anti foulers drill it till is about 1/2 inch so the O2 sensor fits and problem solve I had a TP on my S and that's the way we fixed that Cell light problem

I have the Agency Power exhaust with the cat delete on my 8 and I can tell you for sure that you will receive a CEL. I've heard about the spark plug anti-foulers and people seem to like it. I personally would prefer to get an O2 Simulator instead of drilling into my pipe, but to each their own. I'm curious to see your video if you do it!

your not drilling into you pipe you dilling in to the anti-fouler to make it from 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch so the O2 sensor fits you can buy them at advance or peep boys for $4.99
