cobb features are immediately usable.
you'll have cooler radiator / coolant temps, more oil injected into the engine, a bit more power to boot, and upgradability for when you want to make use of a catless exhaust setup or go turbo.
exhaust is... sound.

^ Just commenting based upon what I witnessed at recent dyno/tune event. Guys who added cobb with little else done to the car, got very little HP ( 1 to 5) gain, whereas I got a lot (204 HP to teh wheels).
Other thing is, as you mentioned, is sound. If I did nothing else to my car, I would get the exhaust because of sound and get the short shifter because of feel. Both of these provide enjoyment everyday. I say start with the basics and then add Cobb on top of that to take all of the parts to teh next level. Just my 2 cents...

yes power gains are small. not noticable at all infact. but it does rev faster... i have ACT 9 pound flywheel. i think its great over the stock 16.8 pounds. bnut i also have other mods to go with this.
MY EXHAUST WAS MY FIRST MOD! GREDDY SP2 im waiting for my mazsport dual res. midipe to come in! any day now!:D

you don't really gain power from it, you just lose less power by spinning a lighter flywheel. So you'll put down maybe 4 hp from it in the low gears, and nothing in the higher gears.
Reving faster in neutral = worthless anyway.

Power!!
Yes but you need to get it tuned. Buy the AP and then go get it dyno tuned. You'll definitely get the most bang from that.
If you really want an exhaust then get a high flow cat. instead. More power and cheaper. Cat is ~10hp. Exhaust is 3.5-5hp at the most.

i doubt you are going to feel much, but I've only used the AP with my turbo, not N/A

I agree with everyone else in that you should get the cobb ap.
Maybe also because i have a brand new one in box for sale.
if you are interested i paid close to 750 with tax from a local fizz and never took it out.
im willing to sell it for obviously cheaper than what it is new but contact me if you are interested
