Exhaust Q's

Not long ago I installed 4 CAR OPTION cat back. Its nice with sound and everything but I want it louder . I was thinking whats your opinion on cutting out those two stock catalytic converters that we have and welding in straight pipe there instead. Whats pro's and con's? I know its going to be loud and not environmental friendly. Can it harm the car in anyway? Is it going to pop flames out my mufflers? Also what about O2 sensors? Would I have to have check engine light on all the times?

I'm not familiar with the exhaust you are talking about
however
Removing the Catalytics will increase the noise
Removing the Catalytics will likely through a check engine light. I say likely because some ppl have experienced no cell from a cat delete midpipe <shrug> not me.
Yes it will be easier to pop flames.
And yes it will stink a lot more, it doesn't bother me but my wife hates it.

AND SEARCH THIS IS ALL OUT THERE DON'T BE SO FIRKING LAZY.
I guess I'm partly to blame for even helping you out.
So I'm leaving now

Calm down man , I will do some research , thank you for the answers tho! My main concern is the check engine and smell. Even though check engine is on, it doesn't have negative effect on the car....right?

It will not pass a smog test, that's for sure.

You only have one catalyst, the center part is a flex section - you will regret removing that.

Just buy a midpipe, they're cheap, then you'll have your whole cat for smogtime.

Yes, cat failure CEL has no other effects.

Cost of welding in a straight pipe is not a lot and I can always go back... Im just thinking of best way to do it before I spend my money. I know there are two things on the midpipe.... Im sorry for lack of knowledge , but if its not 2 catalytic converters then is it resonator and cat?? If yes, what about if I leave cat in there just get rid of resonator? Like I said before , I'm just looking to get louder and possibly spit some spark out of the muffler

Removing either or both is going to make it louder, removing the res wont be a loud as removing the cat both will be loud for sure. Removing the cat will trip the CEL like they said, and removing either or both will make it smell a little. like they said. As for flames it will be a whole lot easier to "get some spark" with the cat out of there

Yes, the second 'lump' is a resonator.

Cheapest solution is to find a dead catalyst pipe and bash the ceramic out - voila' a double resonated midpipe!

The only negative thing I can think of is having the cel on all the time. Then if some other problem happens you wont know about it right away unless you check your cel's frequently.

Correct. Unless you buy an 02 simulator then you dont have to worry about the CEL or just put a computer on it and cancel it, but it will most likely come back if done like that.

I know this is a silly question...but it's related to this thread: Is there such a thing as a less restrictive aftermarket cat? I.e. I'd be interested in a cat that would allow for more flow (add some HP) but I don't want the CEL or the smell of a cat delete.

From what I have heard on here the o2 simulators don't really work for this car.

OP you can get a high flow cat, but I think you will still get some of the smell and I have heard of some people not passing emissions but it just depends on what type of test your state does.

I went to the local exhaust shop today and had my resonator removed , it was only $35 and they did it very clean. I dont have any pics because I left my phone at the car :/ I will upload video tmrw to show you how it sounds. Its a little bit louder and sounds a little bit deeper but nothing too different. I'm thinking about Catalytic now...

...or just get a silencer, if the sound is bothering you.
