FEED Alternator

So I was looking at the FEED website earlier and I noticed the have an alternator. Does anyone know how to get it and how much it would be or how different the power from it is compared to stock?

Hm.. interesting because my dealer said there isn't any aftermarket alternator for rx8 out there now.
Could you tell me that FEED website so I can also check that out?
Thanks,

ooo

*130A Big Capacity Alternator*
It saids 130a (amp I assume) power, Stable power, stronger ignition, more complete combustion, Best for Hi Wattage Audio equipped cars !

Sounds pretty good, but its like 600 bux. thats really steep for an Alternator. but I got their Big Clutch Release with hose for 300 bux. This Alternator dont seem that bad.

Stock output I believe is 100 so its not that great. There are some threads in the audio forum about replacements that are like 200 amps for around $450. I'll see if I can find the threads and edit this.

EDIT: Found It!

Japan Parts, or Invision Performance could probably get the FEED alternator for you. They are vendors and their forums are found at the top of the main page.

Is it worth it tho ?

600 bux is a bit expensive, I dont have any *super duper* speakers or subs in my car, I want to get something better because I think it should help the ignition system to work better, perhaps be able to charge the battery better.

if the Iraggi Alternator works just as fine, then why not ? 450 sounds better than 600 bux.

Personally, I don't think 30 amps and the name FEED is worth 600 dollars. Especially when you can get an extra 120amps for 450. It should help the charging system and help alleviate the loss of power (like when headlights dim or windows go down slower than normal) when alot of load is put on the system from extra audio or ignition upgrades.

Edit: I just read your post again and I haven't had any experience with the Iraggi alternators so I can't help you with that question. Also, even if all you wan't is a little more power, there isn't any reason to not get the highest powered alternator you can afford. It won't hurt the electrical system in the car and its always good to be able to have the extra power if needed for upgrades in the future.

Will it have problem if I go 9K Rpm ? Maybe I should ask the guy directly.

Yeah, it definitely looks great. I guess if you want something pretty and has some better performance then the FEED would be alright, but I'm sure you can paint or powdercoat any alternator to look as good or better for less money than the 150 dollar markup for the name FEED.

As far as the 9k rpms I am sure it will be fine, but I've emailed him to ask. I'll post up what he says when he replies.

Edit: I kind of sound like an ******* about the FEED alternator. I'm sure it works great, but I am pretty cheap and it just doesn't do it for me for what else I could get.

Hmm I would be interested in a higher amp alternator, nothing crazy tho, just a 180a.

The FEED is nice but not powerful enough and too pricey- maybe if it was 180a I would consider.

My headlights dim when I run my CarPC and have my radiator fans running at the same time- they dim quite a bit. Plus, the alternator gets extremely hot, hotter than the rest of the engine, which leads me to believe the alternator is working overtime.

you actually dare to touch it when its running? O_O

Hmm, mine dim even when I roll my power window down ~~~~~~

Higher Amp Alternator, Here I come ! (but see if it works under 9K rpm)

ohio generator should be able to provide a TRUE h/o alternator for the 8, with direct bolt on plug in fitment. by true h/o, i mean 150 to 200 amp, most likely about 180 range, for about 600

No, I don't touch it while it's hot, that would be stupid. Use an infrared temperature gun to measure the surface temps. The alternator gets over 280-degrees F while everything else is in the 240-260 range. The second hottest object under the hood is the oil filter
