Few Questions from NOOB
hey everyone,
I am fairly new here, and i dont have a RX8 yet but hopefully i will this summer. I was just wondering what everyone would say would be some good easy clean mods that add some HP and arent going to hurt the car. I have heard the Rotary can be a bit picky so i dont want to blow her up ya know lol
Well thanks everyone
Wish me luck with my someday purchase
Thanks
Luke

Welcome to the club,
There are some basic things to keep in mind about the RX-8 & this club. The RX-8 is mostly unchanged since 2003 (except the AT) so most of the questions you might have already been asked. The other is that Mazda did a good job in designing this car and common mods like exhaust, intake, and pulleys provide little gains power wise. If you pick a specific mod and do title only searches you should find many threads on the subject. Sometimes the clubs search can provide too much data. In that case try using Google to search this site, this thread shows how https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/link-use-google-search-rx8club-com-more-124367/.
I would recommend spending your money on suspension mods and track time to fully enjoy what our cars can do. Your other option is to wait a few months for the ECU tuners to be tested and you will soon be able to recalibrate how your 8 runs and get more power than an exhaust or intake could provide.

son, let me tell you some advice straight from the bottom of my heart...
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON AN RX-8!
read some of my other posts if you are wondering why i say this and prepare to be convinced that the rx-8 isn't worth buying

As far as power mods go, the two NA mods that I can think of that will probably show you some benefit are the new Mazsport Ignition upgrade and either an InterceptorX piggyback ECU or one of the new ECU tuning solutions that are being released soon. The only power mod that is going to show big gains on an 8 is either a turbo or supercharger. The Mazmart water pump does free up a few hp as well. And a high-flow cat is supposed to free up some power.
If you want to track the car, I would recommend a set of good aftermarket sway bars. I'm hoping to upgrade those soon - I found the body roll to be uncomfortable at the track. If you don't want to track the car I don't think any suspension mods are necessary - the stock suspension is a great combination of ride and handling for the street.
This is all IMHO - others will disagree, I'm sure
