Final Thoughts Greddy w/RP Catless Midpipe!!!

I searched through endless threads about the sound of Greddy SP2 with RP Catless midpipe. So what's the verdict? I want to purchase soon. Is this combo to loud and raspy? Do I need to add a second resonator with this combo?

Come on guys be honest!!

Thanks,
Rob

I have the JIC Titanium with the Rp Supercat and it is LOUD, with the Greddy it will be even moreso. If you want to add another resonator, you can do that on the SR Motorsports hi-flow cat unit.

Alright I'm definately going the catless midpipe route. So what muffler would not sound to obnoxious and still provide the performance for forced induction.

Thanks,
Rob

I'm selling my catless midpipe (gutted RP supercat) in this thread.
I also included a video clip of what it'll sound like with the borla exhaust and Greddy turbo.
I'm selling it because I wanted the "quieter" sound of the B&B pipe with resonator. The gutted RP supercat isn't obnoxiously loud.

HIJACK:

will adding a second resonator to any race pipe make it significantly quieter? will you lose hp from doing it?

Yes, my high flow cat with additional resonator was substantially quieter than my supercat now (no 2nd resonator). You will lose a bit of hp as it is an additional impedence vs. just a straight pipe. The most hp people make with a straightpipe is about 8-9 whp. I made 4-5 whp across the rev range with my unit.

i just got the turboxs race pipe today and got some significant gains from it. check the thread one or two down. It already has a resonater but idk if i want to sacrifice power because its not insanely loud.

I belive they put an extra bun on the rear 02 sensor. You might want to ask nathan because i never saw a cel at all. Also i didnt have time to take pic's when they were installing it but i belive nathan will put up pics of the catback and race pipe on the turboxs website. I also plan on taking some pics this weekend and maybe a sound clip.

I have the B&B with the GReddy catback and I love it. It's seems loud as hell when you first do it but it's perfect now. Awesome pop during upshifts and it pulls great. It not terribly loud though. My bike is a hell of a lot louder. I would be easy on the throttle around law enforcement though.

I have the Greddy SP2 with the SR Motorsports High Flow Cat no resonator and it sounds nice. At idle it sounds like a very distant transport chopper

I am entirely impressed by the range the exhaust has: quiet when not under load driving under 3k and a bit obnoxious when launched and run to redline. Not all that loud though to me but I am sure the people behind me hear it more since it is directed at them.

On another note my wife did not notice the difference from stock when I started it up and took off from a parking lot. She also still hasn't noticed the 4.5" tips that the Greddy has. I think I could drive someone elses 8 and park it in the garage and she wouldn't notice!

I did have to heat up the bracket for the SR cat and put a bend and a twist in it so it did not rest on the frame though. Very solid but if it does rest on the frame I can see it causing the exhaust note to resonate through the car and make it seem louder. If a person wants that get rid of the rubber hangers and weld the exhaust to the frame.

Dont get anything yet. Wait for more info from Nathan at turboxs. Armaant has the first system and he dynoed about 20 more horses than stock with the race pipe and catback exhaust. No other system has done that so far. Wait until more people get and dyno the products. If the 20hp gains can be repeated on other cars, then you should probably go with the TurboXS system(if the loudness will suit you).
