Damn Fast and the Furious 4 has cops busting all modded cars. I don't have anything against cops but the movie has spawned a lot of negative activity against imports and that movie mostly had old muscle cars. lol

remember that fox news couple days ago ? fuxking 'press a button will turn the car into a race car' rofl, fuxking **** was mad epic. and the intake part omfg, illegal my ***. fuxking morons.

they are so freaking stupid. The reporters and cops just want to generalize everything so that they can make their jobs easier. If any of them new wtf they were talking about and stopped talking out of their ***, there wouldn't be this stupid bullshit around here.
Yeah I saw that stupid reporter saying that "At a press of a button it will turn the normal car into a race car". Stupid ***, GTFO. If he had any pride or any sort of shame, he should quit his job for that epic fail.

Here is good info on the regulations.
http://www.pointhappy.com/cvcars/calregs.htm
from CHP Information Bulletin No. 98-100
The exhaust noise provisions in 1036(d)(1) establish a limit of 95 dB(A) measured 20 inches from the exhaust pipe outlet with the engine operating in neutral, at a specified speed typically between 3000 and 5000 rpm (see regulations for details). [Q9]. Exhaust system modifications are permitted to increase noise above the level of original factory installed systems as long as the 95-decibel limit is not exceeded. [Q10].
You can get a cheap decibel meter from radio shack and check for yourself.
Here is a sample chart of various sounds for a comparison.

The reason they use 95db is because that is the accepted level at which sustained exposure will cause hearing damage.

If the A.P. catback is C.A.R.B. legal and you can send proof (from A.P. website) than you don't need to fix it with a stock exhaust. If it is not C.A.R.B legal, then in order to pass the inspection you will need either a legal catback or just put a stock one on and switch back to he A.P. after

this is one reason why i'm glad i live Louisiana. the police really dont care what you do to your car as long as you arent drving like a moron.
i remember a few years ago i bought an 87 Mazda RX-7 Turbo. well, the privious owner was one of those fast and furious lovers and put a flame thrower kit on it. i left it on there for a few days just play with it. One day at work i was showing my co-workers it, it would make an extreamly loud popping noise when the plugs would ignite the exhaust gas.
someone called the cops. when the state trooper showed up he asked what all the noise was. i told him it was a flame kit. he was like "really? well, im glad it wasnt anyone shooting people. got a second to show me how it works." so i did. then i asked him if something like that was illegal. and he basically said, as long as i didnt use it to destory property it wasnt.
