Getting ready to mod my stock '07 RX-8

Afternoon all,

Although I've been monitoring this site for a while now (ever since I bought my 2007, speeding-ticket-red RX-8 almost 3 years ago), I have yet to post anything (i.e., this is my first post.) I'm looking for some feedback before I go out and drop any major $$ on aftermarket mods.

I have a 2007 RX-8 which is stock, After driving it for those three years, I am no longer able to keep my yearn for better performance (power, handling, etc.) in check.

Based on my previous research (primarily on this site), I am planning on making some basic intake/exhaust mods to my car and, based on that research, I have come up with my initial plan:

Intake:
Keep the stock air box, at least until I decide whether to go turbo.
Remove the two plastic pieces that restrict the airflow, in the stock box (done.)
Switch to a K&N drop-in filter (done)
RB Revi Ram Air Duct.
Borla stainless steel cat-back exhaust (part #140078) system.
switch out my GTX 5w20 oil with royal purple synthetic oil.
switch out my transmission and differential fluids with red-line synthetic.

Beyond that, I want to change out my flywheel / clutch assembly to something that handles harder shifting, but I am not educated enough yet to be able to make a sound, informed, decision for that.

To apply some context -- no, I don't see a point in spending a lot of money for a mediocre performance gain (1-2BHP) for a vehicle that I will most likely never use to race in (except for maybe the Maxton Mile). I just want to feel the speed (for lack of a better term.)

If anyone has any particular feedback (positive or negative), I'm open to suggestions. While I could probably do most of the basic repairs with my current tool set and with the right manual, I am by no means a mechanic, so I lack experience in what actually does vs. doesn't work for DIY mods.

Cheers,

Bard

Save you mod money for the BHR coil pack, BHR midpipe, and MM's Cobb Access Port.

From: Burls On
AFE short shifter
Sway bars (I like Racing Beat)
Sohn adaptor
The stuff mentioned above

Upgrade stuff like brakes, suspension, clutch and ignition as it wears out cus the car is awesome in stock form.

Well I believe from what is said above your only option would be ignition, midpipe, exhaust and suspension/ light weight wheels.... all things that will make the car feel a little more alive. Now if you really want to "feel the speed" I would "decide" on a turbo or SC... just my opinion.
