Going catless?

Hi, I was looking for a catless setup for my 8. The thing is I don't want to **** my nabors off whenever I drive it...So I was wondering if it would be a drastic change in sound if I used a catless midpipe, and kept everything else on the exhaust stock. What I'm looking to get out of this setup is a slight hp gain and spitting flames without the fart cannon civic sound. Is this possible?

Not so bad I guess I could keep it under 4k in my development for sure, but how do you feel about the sound It makes when you get it up.

It depends on which midpipe you get...

Sounds amazing with my single res B&N midpipe

Just be warned you will probably never want to open your windows again, the smell is very nauseating after a while, which is why mine is coming out and being put up for sale very soon.

Yeah thats all things I'm considering. Now as far as the smell goes is it a problem when your driving or just when your stopped?

LOL, thats the way to be man. I only care about the smell for other peoples sake in my car. Say I'm driving my girl around or with some friends Idk how they would feel about sucking in gas.

So if I get stuck at a stop light with people in the car I could just blame the person in front of me :P Not a bad deal if your only smelling it while idling though..Thanks for the input guys!

I have the B&B race pipe with the stock catback and really the smell is nothing to worry about. Yeah its there but its not offensive. The sound is awesome and isn't harsh at all. When you step on it though the only thing you'll notice is the ****-eating grin that won't wipe off of your face.

i gutted my cats out of my stock today.. everything is fine, no cel, a touch more of umph, smell only when outside the car really (i dont mind the smell anyways), worth it in my opinion, it was free and easy.

I'm about to just do the same, but have been seeing mixed views on this.
People have been getting cel from doing this and also some people mentioned that the shape of the cat is terrible when gutted for airflow...I wonder if there is a pipe made that replaces the cat as in only the cat allowing you to keep the stock midpipe.

With a matter of seconds looking I found out they do make this pipe!

This seems to be a better way to go catless rather then gutting out the stock cat imo. What do you all think?

I did get a cel but it has no effect on my life. It's only a light. As for airflow I see it as such, it's air being forced out of a pipe. No matter the bend it is still going to go through that pipe because there is really no other exit. Besides the bend is there with or without the cats. If anything I would think your only make the airflow Better. (by bend I mean the one in the stock midpipe in case anyone is wondering) but I could be wrong.

Love my Agency Power mid-pipe. Zero drone on the highway. Raspy above 4K RPM, but I like it. Sounds basically stock below 4K. BTW it only gets raspy when in lower gears. When I'm on the highway in 6th gear there is no noticeable rasp, regardless of the RPM's. Noticed a decent power increase but no noticeable MPG increase. Smells like gasoline (love it) and it pops and spits flames when heated up and revved. No CEL so far and I've had it on for a few thousand miles.
