good exhaust days versus bad exhaust days
Every day I start the vehicle, there's no telling what kind of exhaust tone I'll be getting for the duration of the ride.
The trip length might be long or short; the weather hot or cold. But even allowing for exhaust warm-up, I get some variation in the end. It just seems some days I'll achieve a good tone to where I'll want to rev all day just to hear it. Other days I'll rev it a bit and feel ashamed at such a dismal putter coming out that I never do it again that day.
Has anyone narrowed some of the variables down, that allow the driver some control over the 'good' days versus the 'bad'? Or, is there nothing that we can do?
Are some exhausts more vulnerable to this than others?

my borla exhaust used to sound really good till the long drive on the interstate where i usually pushed the car harder... soon as I got off the interstate, the exhaust note was louder and not as nice sounding.
once I went turbo, the exhaust note seemed to level off, maybe the turbo muffled it better or something. but I always felt like the hot exhaust made more sound than when it was cooler.
