Nice, how much did it cost you and wehre'd you buy it? So far the cheapest I've found was here http://www.jscspeed.com/rx8/intake.htm

i have a v2 intake on my 8 and now my car is making a weird like flapping/ sputtering noise in the high rpm range, it just happened tonight so i have not been able to get it checked for any engine codes at the dealer yet, and it had tons of oil and the engine light hasn't come on. its a 2008 6mt and had just over 2000 km on it, i checked for a tear in the filter and any loose parts and couldn't find anything. please help if anyone info on a similar problem

what flapping noise u're talking about, I never got any flapping noise. (over 1 yr of K&N V2)

haven't had an oil change yet, theres only 2100 km on the car, I've only added engine oil, my mechanic said to kick the exhaust a bit to see if there was any rocks stuck in like a heat shield. it only makes the noise when under heavy acceleration and over say 7800 rpm

mine does that, it gets really raspy. I noticed that mine does it more as I get higher in elevation, wierd observation but how high up are you?

like above sea level? not that high i live in central newfoundland so not too much off sea level. i got the car on the diagnostic computer yesterday and no codes showed up at all so its nothing thats a big problem. i'd describe it like some one clearing their throat sort of like rolling their "R's" past 7800 rpm and only under full throttle when accelerating hard, and its not overbearingly loud, couldn't even hear it on a road test yesterday cuz it was raining. its going in the shop again today so hopefully it will get figured out

I own this intake and it is definetely as loud as everyone says, if you have the windows down it sounds really good. In my case if i have the windows up the loudness of it causes some of the interior parts to rattle or vibrate, does anyone else get this?

my flapping noise was part of the heat sheild of the intake, put on a few rubber bumpers on and it worked fine, but there is still other noises, the intake is sooo loud is makes other parts of the car like the roof and pillars and dash resonate just slightly and the only way to fix that is put the stock one back on

yea, mine does it after its really warm. I notice a slight loss of power attributed with it. Im not worried about it. Its just like other 8's in hot climates that lose power when really warm. Im going to do a TB bypass when I get a chance and see if that helps.

I wanted to echo some thoughts of Rotr8 as well...
I've had the K&N V2 since I bought this car in 2005...I had the stock intake in the car probably about 3 days and then installed this intake. I'm not going to go as far as to say that this intake is crap...cause it's not. I think it looks good under the hood, is easy to clean and yes it makes a lot of noise. I can hear it pulling air at idle, even more so with my vented hood.
I recall when I first got it that at times I could hear the intake above my own exhaust. It helped, along with the exhaust, to remove some of the sluggish feeling from the car when I first purchased it.
Still, after installing diagnostic equipment I started to realize how dangerous this intake could be for anyone dealing with hot climates. The overall design is supposed to seal the intake area from the rest of the motor, but sadly it doesn't. Even more so if you don't run the engine cover like myself.
I've seen intake air temperatures as high as 175 to 180 degrees...that's got detonation written all over it. It's more of a danger for those not running 91 octane or higher fuel. The IAT's are better during cruise or higher speed driving but they are till 20, 30 or even 40 degrees higher than ambient.
Still, it's cheaper than a CAI which was the selling part for me.
The only thing I have not done is experimented with a racing beat air duct to see if that has any impact on the IAT's.
Like I said, I'm happy with mine but I know I'll have to switch to a CAI sooner or later.
If you enjoy it, awesome! If not, I share your concerns.
