GReddy SE Cat-back QUESTIONS

Hi All,

Im from England and our owners club forum isn't exactly full of GReddy exhaust owners! They're very rare this side of the pond (hence why I want one!)

So I have a few questions...
  • Looking at videos on youtube and comparing it to others, it doesnt seem to 'pop and bang' as much as the others - will a high flow mid pipe help make more?
  • How old is the SE system? Their arent many videos at all on youtube?
  • How big is the system? (Could I fit the whole thing in my 8 with the ski flap down)
  • The exhaust tips seem to have a MESH on them, is this to stop it spitting flames? I am yet to see a SE system spitting flames - is it possible with this catback?
Ive looked in all the exhaust threads and have searched alot of what im asking - just figure a seperate thread will help me!

Thanks in advance
Dan

People will tell you both yes and no to if you can fit it in your vehicle. My suggestion is goto your local equivalent to lowes or home depot and rent a truck dirt cheap. Some don't even make you fuel the vehicle before returning it. There is no need to risk damaging the vehicle or the interior. Lord knows our cars are fragile enough.

Secondly the pop and bang is going to be more present without a cat than with. Regardless of which exhaust you use. Go listen to the Borla exhaust with a high flow cat and you see it is just as smooth. What you more need to listen for is the tone, and the tone at high rpm. While some sound great at low rpm they are not feasable for daily driving at 4k and 5k on the tach.

If your looking to spit fire then all you need to do is remove the cat, because your basically burning off unspent fuel. As for the videos on youtube you can't trust the sound there. Some are done with cheap cameras some with even camera phones. Before you make a decision I suggest you get a meet together. That way you can see and hear different set ups. If your going to remove your cat also be aware you will have a check engine light forever, so if you don't have a code clearing tool then you will just have to tough it out or tape over the light like some do.

Yeah I love mine, Idk why you wouldn't get it. It's got a pretty mellow, sporty tone at low rpm and idle, but at WOT it screams. It doesn't drone at all. I've had no issues with mine in the year i've had it on my 8. It will pop and bang if you rev it high and let off like when you up shift. I got my BHR midpipe yesterday and i'm really interested in how it will sound paired with my SE. The mesh will have nothing to do with the ability to shoot flames, only thing that affects that is the cat. If you remove the cat, you'll spit flames.

good choice on the catback, i haven't heard one on the rx8 yet, but they both look and sound amazing on the 8th gen Si and STI. definitely one of the choice exhausts for our car, go for it.
IIRC the SE has only been out for around 1-2 years, it's fairly new hence why there are not that many videos. i was able to transport my Agency Power catback + midpipe in my 8 by reclining the passenger seat down and placing it there, however, one of the corners on the cardboard box scraped the leather while i was getting it out

I have one and it has a great tone, my car is running a bit rich so I do occasionaly get flames if I Rev it high. The tips do not have a mesh to it.

Thanks for your input chaps! I thought that it had not been out long so thats good to know.

If I put the ski flap down will I be able to lay it throught there? It seems as though itd fit

Thanks for clearing that up Gel, they seemed to have a mesh on them from the photos - and I havent seen the tips in person to check

I JUST WANT POPS + BANGS
