greddy & sr high flow cat
hey ill be getting an sp2 and high flow cat soon... is this over kill? lol also is it hard to change the cat? ive never done this but doesnt seem too hard... do i need a sealer or anything before i bolt them back on? also what about the 02 senor... what do i do about that if i switch out the cat? Is there anything i should be worried about breaking while i take anyhting off? thanks
ps someone really needs to make a DIY.. so many threads say look for the DIY but doesnt seem likeone really exists...

Swapping out the cat. is easy. It is 3 bolts on one side, 2 on the other. Just re-use the same gaskets. A potential problem is the O2 sensor is a BITCH to unscrew without stripping. Have a lot of break-free/WD40, and don't be surprised if you break it. Very easy to swap it after you get it out. the bung is built into the top of the cat on the SR unit.

You get an O2 sensor at the dealership. A few (OK, actually several) of us who have put this in have stripped it. It is plastic, and Mazda has just jammed it in there from the factory. Some are lucky, most are not when getting it out. It's a plastic plug that goes into a bung (that is a hole in your cat), with wires attached to it. If you are not sure about this, you are better off taking it to a muffler shop. Whole process should take about an hour or less.

i noticed in that picture inbetween the catback and pipes there seems to be silicone/paper type thing that seems to keep it air tight? is that something thats suppose to come with the greddy?
i bought it used off a forum member so im not sure if it came with everything? what should i do about the bolts?

uhh...i dont think the gasket is made out of silicone. its some other form of metal thats really really really fragile. its really easy to do. but in your case, i think you should ask someone to help you out. and DAM YOUU!! i wanted that greddy xP

Wait so are you saying that if i where also to go w/ a high flow cat my 02 would go off?

No, you reuse the O2, and it works correctly with no CELs, but the unit itself can be fragile and you may break it while trying to remove it.
I had my car for a year of driving before I swapped out my cat and I had no problems taking the O2 off with a monkey wrench.

never updated... had it installed for a few weeks. i love it, kinda loud at cruising speed, lot louder then stock so its easier to hear when to shift.
PLUS i seemed to get a 2mpg increase... and this was with pretty aggressive driving.
