Hi-flow cat or Resonated midpipe 2.5" or 3"

Just installed the Magnaflow cat back system and a 2.5" catless midpipe. It is a little too loud above 5k rpms and was wondering if anyone knew which would be the best way to go a Hi flow cat in 3" or A resonated midpipe, either 2.5" or 3"?

Now Im getting that high pitched raspy sound about 5k and I want to get rid of that... Just wondering if anyone could help.

If you don't mind the smell coming off the exhaust due to not having a cat then I would say to go with a resonator

I've always wondered.... would a stock exhaust with a resonated midpipe shoot out flames?

well even though you get the resonated catless midpipe, it will be freaking loud. I have the 3" agency power resonated midpipe and i am gettin irritated. i just had to pay a $237 ticket for my exhaust being too loud. I am actually thinking about going with a high flow cat. Remember that if you don't want it too loud, you should get the highflow cat because it will quiet your exhaust tone by like 5-10 times. but yea, i am really getting anoyed of how loud the testpipe is. also one thing to remember is the bigger the diameter of the exahust, the louder it will be. so if you go 2.5, it will be quieter

so the high flow cat is the quietest between the midpipe and the resonated midpipe, but the midpipe yields the biggest power gains but it is irritating for daily driving unless you are deaf. am i right? is there a decibel chart anywhere or does anyone know the specific numbers for WOT?

I just installed my resonated catless midpipe today, with the stock muffler it's quite tame...with an aftermarket catback, it'll be loud, when you arn't on it, it's not that much louder than stock, and when you are on it, it's louder than stock, but not a lot louder.

Going with a 3" exhaust system will make it a bit quieter, though likely not enough to matter.

The real solution for you is to upgrade your exhaust system to all 3", including a catless midpipe, and install a turbo kit on your car. That should muffle down the sound and get rid of the rasp. Also, as an extra bonus, your car will become fast.

^^ Better yet, upgrade the catback and leave you stock cat on UNTIL you go FI, THEN install the catless midpipe. I too have the 3" Agency Power midpipe and catback exhaust, but I'm so irritated by the loudness and the gas smell, I'm about to put my cat back on until I go FI. Though, shooting flames can be pretty fun.

I did the same as you guys. had the borla on my car, then decided to get the b&b catless resonated midpipe. Total rice. I immediately uninstalled the borla and put on the stock exhaust.

Only when I had the turbo installed, did I reinstall the borla. It sounds good too.

I just went through this whole scenario as well .
With a catless midpipe and my new Trust Ti catback the exhaust was way too loud - too much for me to live with . I really like the lightwieght exhaust and didn't want to put the cat back on so set about putting as much extra muffling in as I could whilst retaining the free flowing effect .
Here is what I've ended up with starting from manifold flange :
3" pipe to 3" resonator to 3" pipe to 21/2" resonator then 21/2" pipe to 21/2" catback system . Then inside the 4" tips I have fitted a sleeve that turns the tip into an additional muffler .

Result : still noisy but acceptable to run with . The additional resonaters have deepened the tone an taken out the raspiness completely .
Have done a befor & after recording but not sure how to load onto here ...

It's been half a year for me.... I think I'm becoming immune... It used too bother me any time I stopped at a red light, in traffic, in a parking lot. Now the only time it truly bothers me is if my face is looking into the tip, or if I leave it on in the garage...

Some days I wonder if I'm addicted too the fumes, or just going fast...

i'm having the same problem with my AP 3" header-back system. i can deal with the smell and the CEL, but the raspiness has got to go. it would be nice if i could have the smell and CEL go away but its not my priority.

So, my question is, should i put another resonator or a high flow cat on? aslo, any suggestions for a high flow cat and where to buy one?

I would suggest just having an exhaust shop weld on another resonator but MAKE SURE it is a stainless steel resonator throughout. Or else it will melt away over time like one of my pipes did :/
