I need someone to fill in the gaps for me in terms of compression fittings and gaskets with a this cat and a RB catback exhaust. I beiieve the setup goes:
1. Header
-gasket
2.CAT
-compression fitting
3. Connecting pipe
-gasket
4. muffler.

I know the Racing beat gasket kit comes with only one gasket for the connecting pipe and muffler. I'm wondering what's in the RP gasket kit. At the very least I'll find out tomorrow, I just hope the cat includes good documentation.

I'm sure there will be "room for one more" up until the very moment that the order is placed. It's still a few weeks out....

I'm figuring the more buyers we get in on this, the cheaper it should be.

Have been watching the thread with keen interest for a while. Has RP decide on the pricing as well the minimum quantity needed for the GB to go through?

Couple of updates:

1. The cat I received from my 6/30 order did not have a hanger installed.
2. The whole assembly; cat, b-pipe and rb exhaust get installed tonight. I'll post pics soon.

Benny,

In very broad terms any car operated on U.S. soil has to have a catalytic conventor for emissions. High flows cat still retain the catalyst but improve exhaust "flow". In doing so they may allow more emissions than allowed by state law. That being said; 1. You don't have to worry about it if your state doesn't do emission testing 2. Most of the people on the forums with a RP supercat have had good luck with passing emissions.

Truelly illegal would be removing the cat altogether and replacing it with a mid pipe and no cat.

(I'm writing this as my mechanic is installing all the exhaust components, reports to come soon)

The whole setup is on. At this time I'm very disappointed however I believe, after reading through the forums that my mechanic and I missed a fairly crucial seal.

There's a cone shape seal made out of what looks to be steel and some type of ceramic, that sits on the flange at the end of the cat. Because the connection between the cat and the b-pipe floats with the spring bolts this provides a seal between the two pipes. Those of you doing this upgrade I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU PULL THIS SEAL OFF THE STOCK CAT. Without it you get something that sounds like a dyson vaccum and a civic with 5" tip. At 78 mph in 6th gear around 5k rpm it's deafening in the cabin. I doubt that this is the sound that many of us are going for.

I was able to put the 8 up on jacks to listen to where the leak was orginating. I'm almost certain there's a major leak at the spring blots. The plan is after work tomorrow to have the mechanic pop the blots and reinstall the gasket. I'll report back with results once completed.

Hints

For those interested in the group buy; I'm starting a list of "best practices" to learned from my experience in migrating to a high flow cat. I'll edit the post from time to time as new info comes up.

1. Buy the gasket set from Rotary Performance. It includes the gasket, obviously, plus new spring blots and nuts and blots for the connection to the header.

2. When removing the cat be sure to clean the surface of the header flange with a wire brush or go over lightly with a file to remove the old gasket and insure a good seal.

3. Remove the hanger from the stock cat and have it welded to the new RP cat. Note that this hanger is stainless and requires a little more effort to remove and tac. Several people have skipped this step but I wouldn't recommend it. Keep in mind that the hanger helps to keep the seal between the cat and the b-pipe secure.

4. Remove the cone shape gasket at the end of the cat and place it on the new CAT. If you can't remove it buy a new one (part number)

I am waiting, I am waiting (oh yeah, oh yeah)
I am waiting, I am waiting (oh yeah, oh yeah)
Waiting for my freeflow cat to come out of somewhere
Waiting for my freeflow cat to come out of somewhere

You can't hold out, you can't hold out
Oh yeah, oh yeah
You can't hold out, you can't hold out
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Waiting for my freeflow cat to come out of somewhere
Waiting for my freeflow cat to come out of somewhere

See it come along and
don't know where it's from
Oh, yes you will find out

Well, it happens all the time
It's censored from our minds
You'll find out

Slow or fast, slow or fast
Oh yeah, oh yeah
End at last, end at last
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Waiting for my freeflow cat to come out of somewhere
Waiting for my freeflow cat to come out of somewhere

Stand up coming years
and escalation fears
Oh, yes we will find out

Well, like a withered stone
Fears will pierce your bones
You'll find out

Oh we're waiting, oh we're waiting
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh we're waiting, oh we're waiting
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Waiting for my freeflow cat to come out of somewhere

Well I have sent Chris an email last night. If I do not get the pricing from them today I am gonna call.
Chris was very cool and totally open to the concept... even the GB fees that are required were no issue for them. I have no idea why they have been draggin their feet. It may have just been my lack of badgering that caused it to go low on the priority list for RP. I will now become more pro-active in getting this thingy movin!
Please, I ask you all to work with me and RP here, but I shall try my damndest <-SP? to have the pricing and the GB start by no later than Friday/tomorrow.
