Can any of the HKS exhaust owners post a picture from the side of the car. I'd like to see how far the tips stick out. From HKS' pictures it looks like they do considerably.

I ask this because I think I've narrowed down my exhaust to either Greddy or HKS.

Thanks.

Did want to mention. Recently I noticed a dark stain on the bumper paint above both tips. The exhaust had deposited a film on the bottom of the bumper. It cleaned off fine with Zaino quick detailer, but would not clean well with just water. I have about 7000 miles on the exhaust, this is the first time I have noticed/cleaned. Otherwise, still happy.

I had posted pictures and with Genom's help sound files for the exhaust, both GReddy and HKS.

The tips on the GReddy are much larger than HKS, The finish on the HKS is a bit nicer, but the GReddy is very nice. Both are leagues away from Borla (no offense to borla owners). Power wise, they're all about the same (including the Borla).

how does the HKS sound at highway speeds... does it "boom" at a steady cruise? Any louder than stock?

Like all of the other comparable high quality exhausts, it's quiet at highway speeds and downshifting. But step on it, and it's a whole new story. Not obnoxiously loud, but definitely there and noticeable. I especially love to hear it with the windows down and the sunroof open going under overpasses. Very "racecar" like.

I also use this car for work and I park in an exclusive parking area under the Modis building here in Jacksonville. This exhaust is "classy" sounding and mixes well with the CL55 AMG's, Corvette's, Porsche

it looks like your tips are getting yellow, can this be cleaned off? BTW, earlier someone mentioned that they can yield flames with this exhaust? Are you running M Flash? AT or MT? has anyone with a AT ever yielded flamed before?

You can yield flames with the stock exhaust, aftermarket exhausts just yield larger flames. I'm sure an AT could... but not sure if anyone has reported it yet.

has it been confirmed that you are able to yield flames with the M flash? doesnt this update make the fuel map leaner?

I will agree - the borla finish isn't anywhere close to the HKS that appear in the pictures here. The borla isn't polished or shiney. However the tips are pretty similar, and that is all you end up seeing on the road.

As long as the borla doesn't fall apart, it's basically a matter of money and taste.

Leaner until you hit the high revs, I would think it easier to flame with the M flash. M made high rev range quite rich.

the flames result from a heated exhaust tract igniting a super rich fuel mixture...you gotta drive it hard over 6k for a good 5 minutes and then slow to an idle and as fast as you can floor and take your foot off the gas.

since M is rich up high, this would create less heat and therefore less flamage
