Is HKS Hi-Po just a glorified resonator?
Hi,
this question is not for the HKS per se, but for any exhaust that looks like a can…
I’ve looked inside and I see a straight through perforated core, which reminds me of a resonator. Is this what these can mufflers are? Resonators?
Thanks!

Are you referring to the single exit hi power catback exhaust? If so I have one on my car, I personally wouldn’t call this a resonator. As described and talked about in other posts this exhaust is extremely loud on start up and throttle. At first I thought right away I needed a silencer to restrict some noise, but haven’t done so because for the most part I control myself lol.
I have found there is a sweet spot when on bare minimum throttle anywhere from 2k to 3k depending on gear that you can allow the exhaust to be very quiet for the most part. I think HKS has delivered with this muffler just on that, it definitely muffles sound depending on low throttle. With that said if you don’t like a loud exhaust or fear being pulled over for it don’t buy it.
