HKS intake..English assembly instructions??

i just got my HKS intake yesterday and was gonna try to assemble it, but looked at my instructions and noticed that they were in Japanese. Does anyone have an English set they could somehow send me??? I would try to tackle it with the diagrams only, but if I mess up then I'm going to blame myself for using the Japanese instructions. I've searched the net and all over the forum and wasn't able to find anything. HKS will charge anywhere from 5 to 10 bucks to send these, so I figured I'd try here before going to them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've got a friend with the HKS intake.

Let me check if they've got instructions in English.

Update

Thanks to a fellow forum member; XDEEDUBBX I'm getting those instructions tonight.

I'll scan / post them for you tomorrow.
(unless you want me to just fax them right over)

Yeah those japanese instructions were tricky, but they number everything so anybody that does not speak the language can attempt it, it took me and my brother about an hour to piece it together. The intake is great though, hope you enjoy it.

XDEEDUBBX to rescue!!! I'm faxing it over to Jedi tonight and he will send it to you. It's relatively easy. Took me about an hour to install. Also look very closely at the pics. Have fun with it! Just to let you know, it never caused any problems with my car, no flooding, hard starts, rough idle, nothing like that. If you need any help with it just pm me directly.

Whatever is easiest for you Jedi, doesn't really matter to me. Thanks Bryan...I figured you being the self proclaimed HKS junkie you would come through...I read and saw your original "you got sound clips yet?" thread and saw the vid and can't wait to get this thing in there. I'm sure I could make an attempt using the Japanese instructions and I'm guessing half the translation is see diagram so and so, but I'd rather have them in English for my own self assurance...Thanks again guys, that's what this forum is all about...

Yah, and if you show up between 5 - midnight, you'll get free drinks ALL night since Deeddubb is the Manager on Duty!
You should see what he does after they close up shop...

Install has been completed. Took me a little extra time to get it right. Probably wasn't a good idea to do this while watching the games today..

Anyways, I took it out for a spin and everything seems to be running fine. I can feel a big difference versus stock and am loving the new sound. You can definately feel the added power in the higher revs.

Quick Questions:

1) Anybody use the zipties? I didn't see where the need was.

2) After the install, do you do nothing with the green plug that is circled in yellow in the pic? Does it just remain the way it is in the pic since there is nothing for it to be plugged to?

3) When i rev it quickly, there is a quick light sounding squeel. Also at idle there is a light ringing noise kinda like a chirp. Are these normal with the intake?

I just want to make sure I got this right. Thanks again for the English instructions. They helped out a lot.

I will take some pics later this week.

1) I had to use zipties for the vacuum lines and can in the back of the intake.
2) the green plug MUST be hooked up to the vacuum diapragm. This was hooked on the back of the stock intake. You must plug it back where it belongs.
3) Mine one does that as well. However when revved quickly, the car kind bogs down as if it needed more fuel for the amount of air being measured by the MAF sensor. The idle seems to be spot on.

And I had no instructions BTW.

1. I used the zip ties for the vacuum lines as well.
2. What pololo said.
3. At idle I hear a light squeal noise as well, could be cause by a tight belt, almost sounds like a supercharger. MInes is not noticeable though. The chirp noise you probably hear is the air being sucked in, typical with aftermarket intakes.

Other than that looks like you have it installed properly. Post those pics when you have a chance. Did you have a hard time building the box? I actually spent 10 minutes f#cking around and got it upside down. (user error) hahah

i need to get my sisters camera and take some pics.

So correct me if I'm wrong, I need to take the small black can that was clipped to the back of the stock intake and connect the plug on one the end of the can where it originally was. What do I do with the 4mm hose coming from the other end of the black can? Does it plug back into the white "L" connector where I had originally taken it off from. The reason I am asking is b/c the instructions stated to cap the end of the white check valve (which I am assuming is the white "L" connector). Also whats the best spot to ziptie the can to with the least interference.

I really appreciate all your help. This was my first major engine mod on the car, so I just don't want to hurt my baby...

The initial buiding of the box was a pain. i kept getting confused with the diagrams and the brackets that were numbered and etched with numbers and the ones with similar but different sizes. It was a relief once everything fit nice and snug.

Thanks guys.

You should plug everything back to the way it was. You are just installing an intake... similar to the OEM box. You need the vacuum lines hooked up, indeed with this L connector. Use zip ties in the back of the intake.

I have heard horror stories about rotaries with vacuum lines unplugged!

And take some pics!!!

Thanks Carlos..I'll do this today and take some pics...I can't believe they left this out of the instructions..I spoke to Modena and he's at 3K miles without hooking these up and efini also has had these unplugged with no issues. I guess to be on the safe side it doesn't hurt though to have these hooked up. Thanks again.
