yea i just bought the hks hi power single exhaust and it sounds awesome. one of the best exhausts i've heard for the rx-8. i especially love the titanium tip, makes the car look more aggressive. does anyone know the power gain with this exhaust?

power gains were minimal, 2-3 whp on n/a, but with a turbo, its a different animal

that is a generic picture used for the hi-power, the actual exhaust may vary from vehicle to vehicle. the rx8's version does not look anything like that

Finished the install of the HKS Hi-Power with the RP Supercat. The car is freakin loud as hell, but like everything it takes a while to get comfy then it calms down. I pick up my turbo kit today so I don't have the money at the moment for a resonator and plus its going to quiet down once the turbo is installed. Ill post a soundclip later today.

The install went well. I had a little trouble with the o2 sensor but for the most part, it was basic. The RP supercat didn't have any hangers but it seems like it needs one. I plan on taking it to the shop to have a hanger put on and that's when I can gather some pics. I managed to get a CEL with the o2 sensor from the stock cat, maybe buying a new one for this cat would help clear that(i heard it did)?

As far as the sound clip goes ill have one up soon. Tonight hopefully. Cant find my damn video camera card at the moment!!

what's the weight of the exhaust? the vendor says 33 lbs, which is the same as my borla,... but the 33 lbs included the weight of the hks exhaust packaging... so from the sounds of it, it's only slightly lighter ...

sound clip coming tonight and as far as it not lasting with the turbo, why do you say that? think it will fry it? I am going to go with this cat during turbo and if it does fry the cat then ill gut it and have a midpipe no matter if it fries it or not, the turbo throws a CEL anyways doesnt it?

Cool

Hey guys, not to get off topic or anything but I have an HKS Hi-power and I couldnt be happier with it. It was great when the turbo was still off the car and now that I reinstalled the turbo its even better. I dont have anything but a straight 3" pipr from the turbo back and its not too loud at all. I do think that without a cat or a turbo it would be really loud. When I had it N/A I had the stock cat on and it sounded like it does now without the cat but with the turbo. I will be getting a video of the car as soon as I get it tuned so you guys can hear it....

In case you're wandering, my turbo isnt a greddy its a custom turbo kit and I just posted pics of the latest installation in the mystery custom turbo thread in case you want to take a peek .

You can get 1 psi at anything above 2500rpm, boost kicks in at around 3500rpm and doesnt drop off. I havent had a change to do a real dyno test. I did take it when I had installed the kit the first time but it was untuned and only at 6psi and it still make 265-272whp. Now that I upped the boost to 9-10psi it blows the spark(its extremely rich and I have sparkplugs with 32k miles on them) at anything above 6500rpm. Nonetheless I got a torque reading of 250 at the wheels right before it starts sputtering at 6500 and it was climbing. If you look at other dyno sheets that have been posted for other kits you will see what 250tq@ the weels means .
