Cool How about these potential mods?

Hi Guys,

I’m working with a company that is getting into the aftermaket scene. They got tons of experience designing/testing ECUs for the major automakers and are really interested in what you guys think might be some really cool things you'd like to get for your rides.

We got some ideas about a fully customizable (visually and functionally) full-color 7” LCD gauge cluster which also has functions similar to the G-Tech unit (HP, 0-60, etc.), or possibly integrating diagnostics/tuning functions into one of the color-screen LCD head units available from stereo companies.

I'd love to hear about your current electronic mods and any features (data logging, performance measurement, tuning, etc) you’d like to see in an electronics product that isn’t currently available.

Thanks!
Ricky

You've got a sweet ride, I'm hoping they turbocharge the RX-8 and that would make it seriously fast.

Any future mods you eyeing for your RX-8?

This sounds like a sweet setup, Ricky. Depending on price, where it mounts, what it looks like, etc, I would definitely buy one. I also suggest you incorporate other inputs to it, so people who get them can port other things to the display too.

Yeah, lots of people would like additional inputs for things like a digital camera, playstation, radar detector, iPod, etc. All very cool ideas. I haven't personally seen the 7" display on the Skyline but I'll definitely try to get a look at that one.

Another thing that we've been throwing around here is leveraging our expertise in bus/diagnostics with wireless send/receive capability. Some people want to be able to record data and then be able to have it sent to a website or home computer which they can then review. Once they tweak (or we tweak), then the new fuel map, boost, etc can then be sent to the ECU of your car so that you are ready to go!

What do you guys think about that one!

Question Doing your own work?

Hi Guys,

All you guys doing your own installation work or mostly taking to local shops for your mods?

Sounds pretty slick, but also sounds expensive and like overkill. Most of us who would be doing this kind of tuning have laptops, so bringing the computer to the car is no big deal.

I think it depends on how involved the mod is. Probabaly about 60/40 DIY versus take it to a shop.
