How come no body tries to put webber intake on rx8?
I don't have a Rx8, but I do have a 94 Rx7 and I've been learning about rotary for quite a while. Most of the performance upgrade discussed in this form are still very mild for hardcore rotary racer. There are a lot of effective modifications on NA rotary have been developed by the old school rotary guys. Perhaps someone can try putting Weber or Holley intake system on Rx8 and adjust the fuel map. This has been done to old school NA rotary for numerous of time, and resutled great result. You can expect around 40 hp gain using these types of intake. For people who don't know what I'm talking about, check out the link below (from racingbeat).

Of course, there are even more aggressive way to tune NA rotary, but those require porting of engine (which a few of you guys will do, since ur motor is still new). I'm not sure if weber or Holley intake will work for you guys, but just giving out what I know.

Unforunately the Renesis is quite unlike other rotaries.. NA or FI. Lack of port overlap, spark timing, location, size and shape of ports.
I think it was rotarygod who said that there isn't much porting area left on the 6PI manual.

yes he is -look at the link. it goes to the racing beat page that has weber and holley carburator and intake manifold packages!! rxnana is either trying to pull the leg of of some newer rotary owners or just doesn't have a clue himself.
he's the short answer for you rxnana- BECAUSE THE RX-8 IS FUEL INJECTED.

that doesn't matter. the thing to do for any RX-7, with either a series 4 or 5 motor, is you throw on a bridgeport and webber carbs, and you're making more power than the renesis does right now (but effectively making it a marginally streetable motor).
the thing about carburating this motor is that there aren't problems with flowing enough air for more power, or problems moving enough fuel, or problems tuning the whole thing as there have been in the past. even for racers, there isn't any positive for going carburated: for the same amount of money (as a new carb system, completely ignoring retrofitting the system to the motor), you can get a piggy back computer, and upgrade your fuel system (not that it'd be outstripped without some serious modification). then once you think about doing the work of rebuilding the motor (as you would for porting on either your carb'd motor or the FI motor) you're even further ahead (miles) over the carb system.
there really isn't any benefit these days.
