I have driven a couple of cars that have it and was very impressed.........not as smooth as one would suspect but it's early in the technology. Still a 100% improvement over the current systems both MT & AT. Too bad it's not yet available to the general market.

you can probably do a custom sequential setup for ~$10k. i talked to charles about it once and he said he could probably source the transmission itself for $5k, then add some thousands for install. the install isnt as simple as just bolting it up, since they need some form of electronic management.

He and I have also discussed this along with various improvements to the current tranny. The $ don't bother me too much but the "electronic management" would be a major problem. The AT currently has it's own management system and changing that along with interconnecting to our engine management system could be a real problem. Remember I said only if it performed like stock.

Does the FEED final drive fit the AT? Would that shorten the gears enough, plus having all bolt ons? probably won't get sub 5.5 sec time like the OP wants but the tall gears in the AT I think hurt it a lot. I don't know how much the FEED gears would affect it. Anyone have the FEED on an AT?

it doesnt change how long the autotrans takes to shift though.

edit: might be worth following up to see about more info. quaife sequentials go for ~10-11k though.

A better torque converter would be a must as well, to get a better launch. Invasion08 has one (plus trans) from level 10 but doesn't post any specs on it other than saying "it's better than stock" several of us AT owners have asked about the stall rate wondering if it is higher to get better launch but we never get a response to that question. if it's not any higher than stock then how is it any better? No offense to Invasion but the question never receives an answer.

That is why mine has not been changed. I have talked to a local shop that builds torque converters (and racing trannys) for the local racing group and they tell me that it is not worth it if I want stock type feel. They are working on a shift kit that will take out any (or most of) that slight hesitation that ATs have.

I think for my purpose, just getting a shift kit would be fine.

nice. a friend of mine has a built transmission in his z28. its been reworked to shift very quickly. and seeing as he ran 11.9, i'd say its definitely possible to get an autotrans to shift really well.

a sequential is on my list of mods though. however it has the dubious honor of being in absolute last place. haha. its there. but cost is too prohibitive for a broke college student. anybody need a design intern?
