How many people would be interested in a heat shield for intake??
Since there are no heat shields for the K/N intake besides the Carbon Fider on that is $90, and it doesn't work as good aluminum heat shields. We are working on customizing a heat shield for the RX-8 K/N intake. I have one in my car, and that is the key we are using. What we are working on is a heat sheild that blocks the engine's heat from getting to the intake. We are also debating a top heat shield for above the intake (Rotary Extreme has one on the top). We are debating it, because Rotary Extreme lost 2 whp when dynoing compaired with not having a heat shield top.
I have talked to some of the companies that we outsource our product to, and have come up with a rough idea of what we are going to do. It will be in between 20 to 25 gauge (from 1/16" to 1/8" thick) of either aluminum or titanium. They will be laser cut, and pressed by a 9,000 psi press for 100% clean and crisp build. This is more than double the thickness of a compairable Injen Technology heat shield on my buddy's 350z. In other words, this has the potential of blocking heat soak completely.
Price for just the main piece is estimated to be around $20 to $40, and the top will me anywhere from $20 to $30. These prices are all depending on which metal we use, and how many we run. This will by far blow anything away that is available for the K/N intake.
If anyone is interested, please P/M or E-mail me ( TroyJeup@hotmail.com ), so I can get a count of how many I should run.
