While this does hold true, he did post up some big number, but he did also blow the renny after a while. Like many of our fine members have stated, more research and hands on time is needed to squeeze out the power on the renny. The philosophy and concept is the same as all rotaries but the renny was designed differently. For big numbers, deep pockets, knowledge and most of all commitment is needed.

Although most guys that have tried it slapped on a turbo, cranked up the boost and blew up there engines and called the renny weak. While it does have its flaws, no engine doesn't.

i dont remember where but some folks have discussed the practical limit or what the Renny should be able to do, based on what it can flow on the exhaust side...

Well, there is that. But I think there's more to it than that... the thread Brettus is talking about is here: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/13b-rew-swap-finished-161226/ The guy really doesn't have any reason to play the dyno shenanigans games.

I think the side exhaust ports on the renesis are more restrictive than previous 13B motors... they flow plenty of air for an NA 8, but when you start turning up the boost they might be a limiting factor. It also probably doesn't help that a lot more hot unburnt combustion left-overs end up back in the combustion chamber instead of going out the tail-pipe.

MM typed up a bunch of math in a thread somewhere... but that's all theoretical stuff based on air flow going into the engine. I don't think anybody (other than possibly Mazda) has done flow testing on the exhaust ports to determine where the ceiling is.

Was there some reason this dead thread was resurrected? FDking, if you're not trolling, you're doing an awfully good imitation of it. Quit being so freakin' rude and belligerent.
