how would it have a price when it's still being tested and not finished yet? (the supercharged rx8)

they have a mazda speed in japan, and some mazda speed parts available from that in the united states, but it's suspension, flywheel and some other minor changes. When a dealer buys and installs those parts, the price skyrockets... not worth it.

If the supercharged 8 comes out I'm going to weigh my options, but in the end I think the aftermarket will offer more potent and equally reliable results, than either a factory equipped 8, or a retrofitted supercharger from Mazda.

Just look at the flyin miata kit vs the mazdaspeed miata. hell look at the hiboost protege vs the mazdaspeed protege. Enough said.

Thats odd. I look at it like its easier to tone a factory equipped turbo car then a non a factory equipped turbo car.
Put it this way, its easier to get that first 50-100hp out of a factory turb car then a non factory turb car.
Its tuned all you have to do is fine tune it to your preference.

Also theparts inyour factory turbocar are UNDER WARRANTY and can be INSURED unlike aftermarket parts. If I everbuy F/I andthen getinto an accident w/my car thatll be my mindfuck of the century.

Sometimes this is true sometimes its not. In the case of the RX-8, this will probably not be the case. The mazdaspeed cars so far (except for the upcoming Mazdaspeed 6 which uses an entirely new engine) have all the same engine components etc. but have just added a turbocharger and made some modifications to the ECU. There are no changes to the engine that would make it worthwhile to purchase the mazdaspeed version to modify over the regular car and put a bolt on turbocharger from an aftermarket company. Why spend the extra few thousand when you can buy the base and add a 3500 Turbocharger kit from an aftermarket company that has a larger exhaust manifold and larger turbo that makes more power at the same boost levels and has more room for growth?

However previous rotaries have shown that there was a significant difference between the naturally aspirated versions and the turbocharged versions that left only going with the turbo model or swapping in the turbo motor as the reasonable alternative if you wanted forced induction power.

Why buy the mazdaspeed version then? If you want a quicker car stock that you don't plan on modifying, you just want a faster car stock. Its all speculation at this point about what will be different on the Mazdaspeed version, so we will just have to wait and see once its released whether it is a better option to buy one for forced induction or to just turbo/supercharger the naturally aspirated model.

The latest version of the Mazdaspeed 8 was only sold in Japan. Here is the Mazda Japanese post for it: http://www.mazda.co.jp/customize/rx-8msv/ And the Rotary News post for it: http://rotarynews.com/?q=node/view/428

The US has not been targeted for a release of this car as of yet. What the stealerships are doing, is taking a US RX8 and bolting on all the MS parts they pick to bolt on. Similar to this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-aftermarket-performance-modifications-23/saw-mazdaspeed-rx-8-person-35120/

Price was $41K https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...9&postcount=71

Happy Holidays

You guys are dreaming, that's the dealer cost. The sticker price is 49,755.44
On top of that the demand will be so high the dealers will probably add a few thou more.
You'll be lucky to get it for 55K

I think its best to not speculate on the pricing until the pricing is announced by Mazda. Look at the Mazdaspeed Miata, its only $877 more than the LS!! We have no idea what the Mazdaspeed version of the RX-8 might include, will it have the mazdaspeed body kit? Maybe, maybe not. Will it have forced induction? Probably, but maybe not. Will it have upgraded suspension? Maybe, maybe not.

We have no idea whether it will be a full blown upgraded car with new springs, rims, tires, forced induction, and body or just some upgraded springs and ECU.

I'd love if I could buy 'just' the SC parts from Mazdaspeed; so as not to void my warranty. I'd even pay a little more $$ for less HP (than if I purchased a GReddy Turbo, etc).
