How to start?

Just bought a 2004 Mazda Rx-8 and I've began to look at a few parts to modify like intake, exhaust and headers but theres alot options. I just recently got a G-force chip and really dont know if it was the best option to start of with. Know I'm looking into buying an intake and an exhaust system is there any specific brands you guys would recomend? Thanks I really appreciate any comments

Before you go and do anything stoopid, toss that chip in the trash.

why would you recommend k&n intake?
And, upgrades are subjective. It depends on your overall goals (looks, performance, noise, etc). Instead of asking for other peoples' advice, I'd start educating yourself with the engine, specific upgrades and other useful knowledge.

The rx8 is already fast in a stock condition. Why waste money.

Anyway, if its gonna be a show car, then its okay.

Just have a look around some more
Both the V1 and V2 of the K&N are terrible.

Basically any intake is just going to make noise.
Maybe 1 or 2 horses.

If you must get a intake go with either AEM or Racing Beat.
Again both have there pro's and con's but they are the best of the lot, and neither will get you the gains that you want.

Considering weight ... I would go with AEM

However ... if this car is still a daily driver ... depending on your climate .... snow and freezing rain can be an issue with the AEM design.

That being said about the AEM ... apparently some dude made a short ram that still gets cold air out of his AEM .. I'm waiting for pics

Dear fml,

1. Way to highjack a thread
2. You haven't been reading enough, if you're asking how to increase power without going FI
3. Read the links in post #2

sincerely,

you always start by searching and educating yourself first.

Yes it's a lot of work and not nearly as fun as focusing attention on yourself with a dedicated yet pointless thread, but you will learn a lot this way and all the kids won't laugh at you
