Hp vs Torque w/ Exhaust Upgrades

Hp vs Torque w/ Exhaust Upgrades
Let me start off by saying, to my knowledge, any exhaust upgrade is a trade off. The increased flow (decreased backpressure) increases horsepower but decreases torque. That being said, why would this be a preferred upgrade on a rotary motor? Is the horsepower gain enough to justify the loss of torque? I noticed the dyno charts for exhaust upgrades generally only show the hp gains, not torque; which further proves my point. I’m seriously considering an exhaust upgrade, and that’s why I’m asking. I just don’t want to accentuate the Renesis’ lack of torque in the name of high end. But all I’m after is the bottom line; so if it levels out for overall improved acceleration that‘s fine by me. I’d like some unbiased feedback. I know the placebo effect tends to occur with bolt ons, and I want to avoid that. Thanks in advance.

You won't feel anything (or really see anything on a dyno for that matter) with just a cat back.
A catless or high flow catted midpipe will show some gains on a dyno, but you'd have to have a pretty in-tune butt dyno to feel it.
A full exhaust from the ports back will net you an ok gain, and more with a good tune, but it probably isn't going to give you gain you're thinking it will.
An exhaust is just ear candy with an rx8. You're over thinking it. The back pressure and exhaust size has been beaten to death in other threads here, so i'll leave it alone.

Backpressure? seriously?
Trading torque for horsepower? How can it be possible when one is a function of the other?
Your questions can be answered with a simple search here, your assumptions require some reading though
