I just dynoed 240 rear wheel HP! Bye,Bye, 14.3 seconds

wow, those prices have to be with there rebuilt engines, I mean, to P&P, you have to pull the engine right? So hypothetically, were talkin more like $2K if you wanted to do it to your 8's motor, given the time to remove the stock engine and do the work.

I said the engine had loads of potential last year and I'm going to say my next dyno session will land more power. People this thread comes down to the potential the renesis engine has compared to the old 6 port engines Mazda put out in the past. That is what should be important. I understand people want to know what I did but I did have a run in with a Mazda rep. like Polak stated in one of his post and I'm not looking to get into anymore bullcrap with Mazda. My rx8 is in bone stock form..

I really wish the term "bone stock" would stop being used. I understand the whole situation (after reading this lengthy and ridiculous thread), but bone stock implies that not a thing was done to the car in ANY fashion. That would mean that Ito's car is essentially the exact same as mine and everyone else's, when we know that's not true, because the rest of us aren't making his claimed 240whp.
Please just say you modded your car and leave it at that.
And when you have the guts to openly say what you did, do us all a favor and start a NEW thread that says exactly what you have going on, rather than keeping this guessing game going for 15+ pages. Sheesh.

Damnit Mugatu! *slap* enough! You could never be a secret agent, you know this right? Let ME know when you have the guts to risk your warranty for the benefit of the community. Get over the semantics already.
Ito, when do you next plan on going to the strip? There are a lot of interested people in your area who sound very eager to observe. (I'm just hoping for a video camera to get involved )

Well he didn't have to necessarily port the whole motor he could have just ported the throttle body particularly just the 3rd intake runner which would explain the jump right at 6750 where that runner opens.

I just want to say one thing for my own defense. For people that do not know how free I am with information, I have posted tons of information online for free with no interest for personal gain. Just for the sole purpose of the reliability of the rotary engine and reliable high horsepower rotary engines. If and when I'm at liberty to help I'm there. Keep that in-mind..

So i can assume that he started his dyno run around 3800rpm and that each line represents an increment of 500rpm...because that the first number on the X-axis is a 35 then 2 lines over you can see a tip of a 4 and the tip of a 5 so i know im right.
With that data you get:

Alright, this is just a wild assumption -and wishful thinking.
Someone correct me if I am wrong on this concept (RG, Ito...??):
The trap speed of a vehicle traveling for 1/4 mile is indicative of the area under the power curve (assuming gearing, weight, and others remain constant..) - In other words, a car reaching the 1320ft @ 100mph has a bigger area (hp) than a car traveling the same distance and reaching 90mph. I know other factors would affect this concept -shift points, etc.
Ito: with that concept in mind (wrong or right) - Question: if the next time you hit the strip you don't get to get off the tree properly, could you complete one run in a leisurly fashion? I think your trap for the 14.3sec run was 95mph (I am too lazy to go back to the source); therefore, any run done now -with the bone stock engine- should net you a higher trap.
Am I way off?

Here's my guess......With all the experiance ITO has with NA engines(he is in fact a porting genius), it wouldn't suprise me that the engine has a bridge port of the 6th port. If nitrous wasn't used, a bridge is the only other thing I can think of that will give that kind of boost in the upper rpm's. A bridgeport of the 6th port shouldn't effect the overall performance of the engine in the lower rpm's (because of the way the other ports are closed off from the flapper valves). Once that 6th port is opened, WHAM there is your power increase. Look at the dyno chart again. Everything looks normal untill the last ports open up.
Oh well thats my guess.

For those who trashed ITO, at least look at his previous posts. This guy clearly knows what he is doing.
I know many are frustrated because they want instant power but give him time and let him release the info on his own terms.

one thing polak on the dyno plot. there is no Torque plot. but about the middle of the graph to the left of where you place 5500 rpm is a bold line running vertically. that bold line in my memory usually serves to highlight the cross over point between HP and T. which if i am correct would make that 5250 rpm. anyone else want to corroborate that?

Plus, look at the little dip that happens at about 6400. I have seen this dip on evey dyno plot at the same location. Those 2 points should give you a scale.
Interesting to me is that it does not look like the dyno run goes higher than 9K RPMs (to me) . Seems to indicate that he isn't disabling the rev limiter.

C'mon Polok, Do you really think you can ban me? And then calling me names is a very grown up thing to do.......
