Injen intake.. over rated?! looks fishy..

So I was under the impression that K&N was among the best of the best as far as aftermarket cold air intakes. During my research I found a few different ones.

K&N Typhoon (estimated 7hp increase) 315.00
HKS Suction thingy(also around 7 hp increase) 530.00 .... for some reason.
AEM Cold air short ram intake (a MAXIMUM of 15hp) 315.00

and here is the most interesting one... a company called Injen has a short ram intake that claims 21.3 HP and 13ft/lbs of torque. Now I understand marketing. I also understand the:

WOW $60.00 FOR A 2000 WATT AMPLIFIER!!! (10 watts RMS)

So my question is, has anybody ever heard of this Injen intake? is it REALLY a 21.3 hp gain?! keep in mind this is 3 times the hp gain of the K&N intake. I just want the best intake money can buy and this one SOUNDS like it beats everybody but some advice would be good. Here are some links.

No bolt on for the RX8 adds 21 horsepower. A good intake (like the AEM or Racing Beat) will get you about 5 more horsepower. Not sure about the others, but even if they do work you still won't get more than 5 horsepower. An intake on the RX8 is good for sound (AEM sounds awesome) and some flash under the hood. I don't regret getting my AEM intake, but don't expect anywhere near 15 more horsepower.

Stick with AEM, Mazdaspeed or Racing Beat.

At 7stock I met the engineer who developed the Injen intake. His car was sitting in the Racing Beat booth because he has their body kit on. After talking with him for about an hour and discussing what he has done to his car and how much power he makes i am convinced the Injen is a decent intake that makes about as much power as you can make with an aftermarket intake on the RX-8.

Im not ready to agree it makes that much but I know it will make more power than stock and at least as much as the others and possibly more. ymmv.

interestingly enough he was currently trying his tube etc with a racing beat airbox. he was making more power with the bits combined than with either of the kits on their own. he is not using any tuning at the moment.

Injen is a good and reputable brand I got they cold air intake for my 08 lancer and is awesome, is the best intake for lancers, but the design for the rx8 sucks, our engines are hot, and that intake suck that hot air, I got the AEM intake for the rx8 and the sound is amazing, performance I'm not sure, at least I can't feel any diference... if you are going for and intake get a cold air intake like AEM or mazdaspeed, or even racing beat with the suction thingy... that's just my opinion I don't know for sure if those short rams like injen or k&n help less than a cold air like aem or mazdaspeed.

You know that the mazdaspeed intake is the same as the AEM right?

K&N is very reputable yet you also lose horsepower with their RX-8 intake.

Either way, there is a reason the Race cars using the Renesis are using the factory intake and paper filter. But what do I know, obviously you have it all figured out

Well im quite sure almost every DECENT rx8 Race car Does NOT have a renesis, or has a turbo... and i have yet to see a turbo'd 8 with that huge stock intake...
but if your talking about the barely 230 hp rx8 as a race car, then i guess its because they cant afford an intake because they lose every rce...

Maybe im wrong..
Maybe Your Wrong
Unless Sum1 Has a Dyno we shall never know..
