some aftermarket flywheels that dont carry the cost of big brand names dont come with the ring grear attached so you can re-use your ld one..
for e.g:
I thought the mazdaspeed needed the ring gear added also such as this one above.

To me the ACT seems like the way to go. Best bang for the buck.. 400 bucks that is over the MS...

I decided to go with the MazdaSpeed flywheel for 525 from Trussville Mazda. Anyone know a better price before I purchase it?
Also.. what about the clutch? I am getting the flywheel done, do any of you think it would be a good performance investment?
Thankx!

How does a lighter flywheel affect engine braking? Does it make it brake faster (because the engine is able to decelerate quicker) or slower (because the engine is can't drag the wheels down as quickly)? Or neither? Or one of those two, but for a different reason?

Dont waste the money the the Mazdaspeed. That stuff is so overpriced. Get the ACT.

So guys.. which should I buy. The mazdaspeed flywheel or the ACT chromoly flywheel. It seems the mazdaspeed is 16 pounds with the counter weight and the act is 13.5 with the counter weight. Can anyone confirm this?

The next time I have problems I don't want them blaming it on the flywheel if it isn't Mazdaspeed.
Otherwise I would say ACT in a NY minute.

Just wonderin how much harder it would be to drive with the ACT flywheel as its a few pounds lighter than the Mazdaspeed one (which is slightly lighter than stock, I believe). Can anyone help enlighten (no pun intended...)?

My concerns are like Mr. Wiggles. especially for such an internal component... is it really going to be ok to go with ACT instead of Mazdaspeed. Even if the ACT flywheel/clutch isn't the cause, I'd hate to go through the paces with the dealer because I had ACt dropped in instead of Mazdaspeed. You experienced and knowledgable people (ehem... rotarygod, jason, mazdamaniac...) convince us that ACT is the way to go even when thinking about possible warranty issues...
