Installed Tien Basic Coilovers, Hotchkis sway bars & RB adjustable end links
As the title says, overhauled the suspension with Tien basic Coil overs, Hotchkis Sway and Racing Beat adjustable end links.
Overall the car rides 30% firmer at least over stock. Suspension is very quick responding with very little body roll. It is harsher for routine city driving as you drive over sewers, and uneven pavement, but not uncomfortable. They rebound so quickly when they hit a bump and are immediately back in position. Where the suspension really is very impressive is its very planted at higher highway speeds. Feels extremely solid and predicable. I love these shocks but I am sure a few more dollars more and you could purchase something a little more sophisticated. For $700 for the coilovers, this was a great deal.
The sway bars are much thicker than stock and probably thicker than any other sway bars out there. They will not give in to corners and will make you tire do a lot of the work on sharper corners. Again very planted, but if your tires are not up to the task or taken at the wrong angle, you could find yourself experiencing a little bit of plowing and watch your DCS kick in. Get a good set of tires with a good alignment, and you will truly be shocked by how well these sways help you handle through turns and corners. Very good quality with robust hardware. And they are adjustable.
Racing Beat adjustable end links are at a decent price and fairly good quality. I had no chance of saving the stock end links as they were seized on. Im am sure there are better end links out there, but for a double the price. Didn't think I needed anything better than what Racing Beat offered.
Installation: I would recommend that you contact Dave's Garage in Oakville for all your automotive repairs and installation of mods. He did my suspension and I was delighted with his work and his rates are fair. He services the Miata club and several of the RX8 members as well. He knows his **** backwards and forwards.....
