I'm in a dilema....wait around for someone to say "search first", or should I do it instead ?

As you may be able to guess, this issue has been discussed to death and back more than a gazillion times.....for more info, check the "Intakes, intakes, intakes" thread

Has anyone proved that an aftermarket intake actually improves anything? I've only heard of them taking power away.

Yes, RX Tuner tested the RB a while back and in some places increased near 10hp in the midrange, and gained 3-4hp near redline.

he probably just wants the most peak HP out of an intake. I'm new to this forum but at least I know how to use the search function XD

Hp-nothing really, I was surprised at Red Devils comment on Rb with 10 hp. Even rb doesnt claim that much.

For loudness-K&N
For quietness-RB
Dont know about weapon R
Mazdaspeed seems to be getting good reviews and the dealer will probably give you less hassle about warranty becasue its their product.
Aem I hear makes a good sound like mazdaspeed but is basically a mazdaspeed replica. oh sorry, mazdaspeed is an aem replica
I went with RB because of mainly believeable hp gains and they specialize in rotaries. If I was going to change though, I would definitly go with mazdaspeed.

But you are really not going to get much hp out of any intake for the rx8. Or about any bolt on. Like dmp said, turbos are the best intake.

I built a custom one that added over 300 HP increased my gas mileage to 50MPG and costs under $200.

Now for the truth. If you're under warranty Mazdaspeed is the best choice, everything else can void the warranty. RB touts a good thing mostly becuase they've put a velocity stack at about the right length.

Intakes don't do much other then make a little more noise. Of course when you spend $300 or more they feel a lot faster and maybe thats OK, as long as it makes you feel good.

That was 10hp at a few spots in the mid-range if I recall correctly. The top end only saw 3-4hp. I have a copy of the article somewhere at home, if I find it I'll quote what it stated.

The only cases where that took place was with the K&N Typhoon Intake V1 where it was loud as **** but actually heat soaked and sucked up power... Also I've read in an article if you try and hook up the Racingbeat Ram Air Duct with the OEM box and you don't seal it properly, it leaks power, but there are some people here who have done an excellent job connecting the OEM box to the Racingbeat Ram Air Duct....

Honestly intakes don't really do anything for us, but if you still want one, go with AEM/MS CAI or the REVi intake w/ duct

Aem Cai

AEM CAI IS COOL...I GUESS, BUT NO INTAKE IS EVER GOING TO GIVE TRUE HORSEPOWER...COULD BE COUNTER PRODUCTIVE JUST LIKE ANYTHING ELSE YOU PUT IN.....
